Hot spring Hotels in Karuizawa

We stayed in a room accommodating 3 people. The sofa bed is big in principle big enough for my daughter but she found it easily falling down probably because the base is a sofa which is apparently smaller than the mattress! The hotel room is generally clean. We had a shabushabu and teriyaki dinner at the hotel which was relatively expensive but the quality is excellent and we found it worth a try! More importantly, the hotel is conveniently located near the outlet where we had a happy shopping spree😊

After a great stay at the Hoshinoya Okinawa last year, we were looking forward to staying at the ”main” resort, which did not disappoint. I love how Hoshinoya takes a completely different approach to luxury than a Four Seasons or an Aman. This is not about excess and opulence. This is about simplicity, discreteness, thoughtfulness and nature. We stayed at one of the water-side villas, which appear to be worth the higher rate than the row of villas farther away. Check-in and reception were a breeze, except for the expected English language gap. There are a few staff members who speak very good English, but overall you can tell some of the staff will struggle. The rooms are gorgeous. High ceilings. Turn on some music and it will echo wonderfully. There is some attention paid to lighting. The sleeping areas are darker. And quieter. The only sound filling the room is the rush of the water. The rooms are extremely clean and you will find yourself tidying up your own clothes just to not mess up the clean/zen vibe of your room. Being able to wear the yukata around the resort and even in nearby areas was great. Next time I will make sure to pack less clothes. We ordered the kaiseki style breakfast and dinner. The breakfast was a bit too much on the veggie side but the dinner was excellent. Pricey, but worth it. More reasonably-priced dining options are available at the nearby Harunire Terrace, which is a 15-minute walk or a 5-minute ride with the resort's free car service. The Meditation Bath facility in the resort was more than enough for me to enjoy the hot springs. It's open to very late and you can check via a web site as to whether the place is crowded or not. My wife ventured out to the larger Tonbo no yu onsen and thoroughly loved it. It won't take you a lot of time but just walking around the resort grounds is amazingly relaxing. The layout does come across as a bit too manicured but still very pleasing both visually and aurally. I didn't want to go too much into the details of the place because part of the wonder of this resort is discovering and marveling at it for the first time yourself. If you can shed the concept of excess and luxury and opulence and are open to a ”very” different approach, then go.

First thing about the hotel is that it js huge hence if you stay here , you really need to do lots of walking. I was given a room in the B wing and most of the amenities are in the other wings. The hotel is on a massive ground with East and West side also with standalone cottages. The West side from what I knew is the more economical one, but walking from the wings within the West side is already a real workout. The location of the hotel is within walking distance from the JR Karuizawa station but the hotel runs free shuttle service regularly stopping right at the lobby of West side. The room is simplistic and well maintained typical in most Japanese hotels. What I like is that the wash basin is outside the shower room. Nothing fanciful about the room but large enough to have a sofa even for the basic rooms. As mentioned walking from my side of the wing to the onsen is a good 10 mins walk and also to the self service laundry area. Breakfast is good but very expensive if you did not include it at almost 4000 yen per person. There is a Famjly Mart convenience store right in the hotel which solves most of the issues. Overall a very decent hotel in this area.

When I fell asleep at night, I noticed the noise of the snowmaking machine at the ski resort. I have a very sensitive hearing, so I immediately contacted Ctrip's one-to-one customer service and the hotel front desk, and got a response very quickly. The Japanese night shift staff at the front desk communicated well and considered that it was very late, so they let us stay in the hotel building for one night and adjust the room the next day. The next day, Zhang, a Chinese at the front desk, drove the hotel car to the cabin very coolly to help us move our luggage into the hotel building. It was very friendly to hear Mandarin. Cost performance is the best hotel. The price is middle class, but the quality is only a luxury hotel. So please stay for a while. We stayed for 2 nights this time on our second stay. 1We stayed in a family room for one night but it was very comfortable with ample size to spend with family 3 people. From the balcony you can see the golf course and Mt. Asama surrounded by nature, and your heart is calm. The hotel here is great with hot springs in the annex. It is very pleasant to be soaked in a bathtub while watching Mt. Asama during the daytime with good weather. The breakfast buffet was firmly equipped with infection measures and I was able to eat with peace of mind. I like it so delicious that fruit juice is added. The hotel staff is soft and only 々 who greets you when you pass. I was able to stay very comfortable.

The ski resort is very close, and you can play at the age of three. Aolai has a few big names that are still expensive. The sukiyaki pot and teppanyaki in the hotel are great. If you bring children, it is more suitable than Hoshino, and Hoshino Hot Spring can not go. The hot spring in the hotel is already very good. There is a big supermarket, Delice, which is 15 minutes by taxi. You can buy things and cook in the room. The cooking in the room is very convenient. The waiter can wash the dishes. It is perfect.
