The Last of Us, the critically acclaimed HBO drama series based on the hit video game of the same name, has garnered rave reviews, with the i’s TV editor giving it the full five stars and describing it as “poignant, violent, joyous and exhilarating all at once”.
The highly anticipated series stars Game of Thrones’ Bella Ramsey (Ellie) and The Mandalorian’s Pedro Pascal (Joel) fighting to survive in a post-apocalyptic world in which humans have been infected with a virus that turns them into deadly zombie-like creatures.
“Hardened survivor” Joel is hired to smuggle 14-year-old Ellie out of an oppressive quarantine zone and across the US in what HBO describes as a “brutal, heartbreaking journey”, and depend on each other for survival.
