Former Liverpool captain Alan Hansen has been discharged from hospital following a serious illness, the club has announced.
Hansen, 69, was hospitalised in June, due to an undisclosed medical issue.

On Sunday, Liverpool released a statement from his family saying: “Alan has been discharged from hospital today to continue his recovery at home.
“Alan, Janet, Adam, Lucy and family would like to thank everybody for their wonderful messages of love and support. It has been overwhelming and has helped enormously.
“We also hugely appreciate the ongoing respect that has been shown for our privacy as Alan continues his recovery. Thank you.”
Hansen played 620 games for Liverpool across a trophy-laden 14 years on Merseyside, winning eight top-flight league titles and three European Cups after joining from Partick Thistle in 1977. He also earned 26 caps for the Scottish national side.
He became a pundit after his retirement in 1991, working on Match of the Day for 22 years before leaving in 2014.
During his career as a pundit, he covered sixteen FA Cup Finals, six FIFA World Cups, five UEFA European Championships as well as one Summer Olympic Games.
His Match of the Day colleague Gary Lineker posted on X on Sunday: “The best news ever.”
