Four-month-old baby dies after crash between van and taxi in Leeds

The driver of the van, a 54-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving

A four-month-old baby has died after a crash involving a van and a car in Leeds.

A Vauxhall Vivaro van was involved in a head-on collision with a Toyota Auris on the A1620 Horsforth Road near Rodley at 4.55pm on Monday.

The boy suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital, where he died on Wednesday.

Two women from the Toyota and a man from the Vivaro also had to be taken to hospital.

The driver of the Vivaro, a 54-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and released on bail on Wednesday as enquiries continue.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is being urged to contact West Yorkshire Police on 101.
