Supermarket opening times on New Year's Eve, from Asda to Tesco

Here are the opening times for each major chain, and how to check your local store

New Year’s Eve is fast approaching, meaning many are stocking their houses (and fridges) ready for a party.

If you are still in need of a few things, it’s important to note that supermarket hours are reduced over the festive period due to bank holidays. This year, New Year’s Day falls on a Sunday, meaning Monday 2 January is a substitute bank holiday.

Here are the opening times for each major chain, and how to check your local store.

Tesco

Opening hours depend on the size of store. Superstores are likely to run shorter hours, while Express stores will stay open longer.

Superstores:

  • New Year’s Eve – 6am to 6pm
  • New Year’s Day – 10am to 4pm
  • Monday 2 January – 8am to 6pm

Express stores:

  • New Year’s Eve – 7am to 10pm
  • New Year’s Day – 8am to 10pm
  • Monday 2 January – 7am to 10pm

  • New Year’s Eve – 7am to 9pm
  • New Year’s Day – 9am to 9pm
