Slack, a chat app used by workplaces and teams, has been hit by an outage, leaving some users unable to access messages.
On Tuesday afternoon, people reported they were having difficulties loading the app and sending and receiving messages in channels.
Slack has apologised for the disruption, which has affected users in the US as they began the working day.
The company said it is investigating the issue of the app not loading for some customers and looking into the cause.
“We’re still working towards a full resolution. We’ll be back with another update soon. Thank you for your patience,” Slack said in another update.
The app is used by more than 10 million active users.
It is not confirmed how many people have been affected by the technical problems but more than 2,500 outage reports were recorded by Down Detector.
The outage has not affected all Slack users, with some able to use the app without any issues.
Yesterday, Slack customers were also unable to use the app for around an hour.
Similarly to today, people experienced challenges with the messaging function of the app, while some could not connect to Slack at all.
After it resolved the problem and restored functionality, the company said “a code change inadvertently caused a conflict in the desktop app and web client, preventing a small number of customers from sending messages”.
On Twitter, people that use the app for work have made light of Slack being down.
“If slack stays down for 15 minutes we legally get to go home,” one Twitter user said.
