BeReal emerged in 2022 to become a major player in the world of social media.
It positioned itself as the authentic app you could use to share your daily life with friends, and as of August 2022 it had attracted 73.5 million users.
But now, it has changed things up.
What is Bonus BeReal?
In BeReal users are notified once a day with a random two-minute time slot. The app takes a photo using the phone’s front and back cameras to show what the user is doing.
The image is then sent off to a feed where you and your friends can react to each other’s photos with “RealMojis” – photos in which you make the same face as an emoji so your reaction is more personal.
The two-minute time limit gives you no time to pose and fuss over yourself – there are no filters or editing tools, just the front and back camera photos. This means that you have to be more honest with your friends about what you are doing with your time
Bonus BeRel is a new feature for users in the UK. It means you can post more often that you currently can, which is once day.
The site says: “You can now share two more additional BeReal per day. All you have to do is post on time. For now, Bonus BeReal is available in selected regions.”
How do I post?
“The option to post Bonus BeReal appears in the frame on the right of your BeReal. Posted late? The option to post Bonus BeReal is locked. No worries! There’s always tomorrow.
“Tap the frame to open your camera and take a Bonus BeReal.
“The audience set for your BeReal also applies to your Bonus BeReal. Therefore, updating the audience of your BeReal will also update the audience of your Bonus BeReal.”
But what if you want to delete your BeReal?
“Deleting your BeReal will also delete your Bonus BeReal.
“You won’t have the option to post Bonus BeReal if you delete your BeReal and post a late BeReal after.
“You can delete and repost your Bonus BeReal as much as you want. Take it easy, though!
“To delete Bonus BeReal
- Tap your Bonus BeReal to open it in full preview.
- Tap the three-dot menu in the top right corner.
- Choose the delete option.
- Choose a reason for deleting your Bonus BeReal, and confirm.”
