After nearly four months of intense league action, the time has come to crown the 2024 Premier League Darts champion.
Only three matches remain, featuring teenage sensation Luke Littler, reigning world champion Luke Humphries, seven-time champion Michael van Gerwen, and former world champion Michael Smith.
These players will compete in the play-offs, leading up to the final showdown.
The O2 Arena in London will be the epicentre of excitement as thousands of darts fans gather to witness whether Littler, Humphries, van Gerwen, or Smith will claim the 2024 title.
When are the Premier League Darts finals?
The Premier League Darts 2024 final will take place on 23 May at London’s O2 Arena, as part of the play-off night. This event comes after 16 nights of league matches held across various European cities, including Manchester, Aberdeen, Exeter, and Rotterdam.
Finals Night features a longer format than the regular rounds, with each semi-final played over 19 legs and the final contested over 21 legs.
As the top two players in the standings, Littler and Humphries will throw first in their semi-finals.
The order of throw for the final will be determined by a bull-off in the practice room.
Who’s competing in the finals?
Four players have advanced to the Premier League Darts play-offs: Littler, Humphries, van Gerwen, and Smith.
Littler, in his debut Premier League season, dominated the league table with 40 points, tying the record for this format.
He secured four night wins and will face Michael Smith in the semi-finals. Smith, the 2023 world champion, clinched his play-off spot with a decisive victory in Sheffield on the final night of the league stage.
The two have met seven times this season, with Smith leading their head-to-head 5-2.
Luke Humphries, another tournament debutant, finished second after also claiming four night wins, including an impressive streak of three consecutive wins from weeks six to eight.
Van Gerwen had a mixed group stage performance, exiting in the first match of the night on eight occasions but still managed to secure four nightly wins to finish third.
The Dutchman is aiming for his third consecutive Premier League title, having won in 2022 and 2023 after finishing second and third in the league stage.
Humphries and van Gerwen have faced each other seven times in 2024, with Humphries winning the last six encounters.
Littler and Humphries aim to follow in the footsteps of Gary Anderson (2011) and Glenn Durrant (2020), who won the tournament in their debut appearances. While some players have excelled in this format, none have dominated like Michael van Gerwen, who has claimed the title a record seven times.
Van Gerwen won in 2013, then secured four consecutive titles from 2016 to 2019, and most recently triumphed in 2022 and 2023, defeating Gerwyn Price in last year’s final.
