[en] The status and prospects of nuclear power development in the newly-independent states in the territory of the former Soviet Union are considered. The prerequisites as well as the scientific-technical and industrial basis for the implementation of the national nuclear programs are discussed. 3 figs

[en] Considering that nuclear power will play an increasing role in the energy and economic development of Pacific Rim countries, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission is prepared to expand its cooperation with counterpart organizations in Pacific Rim countries to help establish and nourish a safety culture able to respond to the dynamic process of nuclear energy development which will occur over the next few years

Their role in promoting cooperation in the field of nuclear technology among the Pacific Ring nations is also outlined. [en] The progress of nuclear instruments and their applications in China's industries have been greatly dependent on the development of social economy. In recent years, the economy in China demanded an increasing application of industrial nuclear instruments. The reliability of system performance and its adaptability are prerequisites to ensure widespread application in industry. Over 40 years, a sound foundation was created for the development of nuclear instruments and their application, which are briefly described in this paper. The establishment of a comprehensive nuclear industrial system and skilled technical teams is also considered of a great value. The international cooperation and technical exchange between China and other countries has provided further opportunities to absorb new concepts, new ideas and new technology for upgrading current products and shorten the gap with the developed countries. 2 tabs
