[en] The present status of radioactive beam developments at GANIL is discussed. The emphasis is put on the construction of the new SPIRAL radioactive beam facility which is presently underway and of the main trends in physics. (orig.)

[en] The isospin structure of the density matrices and self-consistent mean fields is discussed in the Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov (HFB) theory assuming the time reversal invariance. This theory allows for a consistent microscopic description of pairing correlations in all isospin channels. (orig.)

[en] Initial low energy radiactive beam experiments using the Louvain Edinburgh Detector Array, LEDA, are described. The importance of high solid angle, high granularity strip detector systems for charged particle studies is illustrated in a variety of different applications. (orig.)

[en] The National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory has proposed an upgrade of its present facilities. The project will couple the two existing superconducting cyclotrons together to create a facility with much higher intensities and top energies than the present one. The plans for the project will be discussed as well as its physics motivation and its present status. (orig.)

[en] After a short discussion about the basic properties of halo states in nuclei the main part of this paper is dedicated to the momentum spectra of fragments from the breakup and to the beta decay of halo states. (orig.)

[en] The structure of the light proton and neutron rich nuclei is studied in a microscopic framework using the stochastic variational method. (orig.)

[en] Direct mass measurements of unstable isotopes at ISOLDE are discussed. The results obtained with the Penning trap mass spectrometer ISOLTRAP after now several years of operation at ISOLDE will be summarized. Perspectives for further direct mass measurements will be given. (orig.)

[en] Neutron-rich nuclei have been studied at IGISOL using the charged particle induced fission reactions on uranium and thorium targets. Production rates of very neutron-rich nuclei in fission are given and discussed. The experiments employing a neutron longcounter have discovered 12 new neutron precursors of neutron rich Y, Nb and Tc isotopes. First succesful experiment on collinear laser spectroscopy on short- lived zirconium isotopes is described. (orig.)

[en] In 1989, the first radioactive ion beam was accelerated at the Radioactive Ion Beam project in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium. Since then, many more beams have been accelerated and used for different experiments. An overview of the ARENAS³ project (Accelerated Radioactive Elements for Nuclear, Astrophysical and Solid-State Studies) is given, concentrated on the present possibilities and the expected evolution in the near future. Some recent experiments of astrophysical and of nuclear physics interest are discussed. The contribution further deals with the construction of a new accelerator and its links with the present accelerators. (orig.)
