AbstractAbstract
[en] Bulk samples of 2223 Bismuth Superconductor were prepared using Solid State Reaction method. Electrical resistivity and thermoelectric power (TEP) measurements were carried out on the samples. The Behaviour of TEP near and above Transition temperature in the samples can be described on the basis of thermodynamic function of superconducting order parameter. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Lasers used in non destructive test equipment perform new and more sophisticated measures and quality control procedures owing to their specific and exclusive nature. In fact laser light allows very accurate, fast contactless measures. Thus tests can be run under dynamic conditions, without external deformations. The benefit of a contactless action allows to control and measure composite materials otherwise impossible with conventional techniques. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Data on impurities in diamond and some features of solubility of chemical elements in diamond, silicon, germanium and silicon carbide are discussed. A brief review of the experimental results on the deposition of carbon nitride and carbon born nitride films is given. Possibility of the formation of concentrated and continuous solid solutions on the basis of diamond and cubic boron nitride (c-BN) is considered. In terms of the idea on substitutional and interstitial liquid solutions the dissolution of carbon (diamond) in liquid metals is discussed and for the processing of chemical vapor deposited (CVD) polycrystalline diamond plates by the dissolution of the number of molten alloys are predicted. AbstractAbstract
[en] Effect of strain and temperature on high temperature deformation properties of an alpha + beta titanium alloy Ti-6Al-4V has been investigated in the temperature range 800 to 910 deg. C by using the method of cross head speed cycling. On the basis of flow stress strain rate-strain rate sensitivity data and microstructural studies of the undeformed and deformed regions of tensile test pieces, both strain introduced hardening and softening effects were observed during the course of deformation which could be associated with grain coarsening and refining respectively. AbstractAbstract
[en] We report on a Molecular Dynamics simulation of palladium using a semi empirical, embedded atom method to describe the interatomic interactions. Self diffusion coefficient for bulk as well as low index surfaces of Pd is studied as a function of temperature. The pre melting of the low index surfaces is seen to effect the self diffusion coefficient, which merges into the bulk diffusion coefficient at high temperatures. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The temperature dependence of electrical resistivity sigma(T) of Ni-Fe-Cr alloys is studied for different annealed temperature. The temperature range of measurement is from liquid nitrogen to 400 K. The influence of annealing causes an increase in residual electrical resistivity. This is attributed to the establishment of short range order parameters. For this alloy, a resistivity minima occurs at low temperature. In addition, magneto-resistance of this system is also measured. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Steel plates containing 0.088 wt% Mn and 0.78 wt% Cr were rolled at inter critical annealing temperature and quenched to produce dual-phase microstructure. The microstructure maps of rolled and not rolled specimens were drawn, describing the microstructural changes at various cooling rates. Rolling at 790 deg. C. reduced martensitic harden ability of austenite. This was explained by the increase in alpha + gamma interfacial area caused by rolling, which promoted the growth of epitaxial ferrite during cooling. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Resistometric-Temperature method has been used to study the crystallization behaviour of amorphous Fe sub 90 Zr sub 10 alloy at a constant heating rate in the temperature range 300-1150 K. The resistivity temperature curve (RT-curve) exhibits three peaks corresponding to phase transitions. The results are in agreement with those observed by other techniques. Magnetic behaviour of amorphous and quenched samples is also studied by Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM). No saturation magnetization is observed up to 10 KO sub e applied field. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Computer simulation is carried out to predict the formation of shrinkage cavity during solidification process of steels. The model predicts the formation, location and size of the cavity,.The simulation encompasses the effect of the hot top. It can predict shape and size of the hot top to reduce the alloy steel using hot tops recommended by the mode. The experiments exhibit satisfactory agreement between the observed and the predicted values for the cavity. The knowledge has been use to increase the material yield from 69 % without the hot top to 87 % using it. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Environmentally friendly lead-free Sn-Bi solder alloys of various compositions have been developed that can not only substitute the conventional lead-tin solders but also offer significant improvement in properties. This paper presents a schematic work which was carried out to correlate microstructural features with properties such as wetting characteristics and hardness. (author)
