[en] In Germany only few students graduate in nuclear technology, therefore the NPP operating companies are forced to develop their own education and training concepts. AREVA NP has started together with the Technical University of Dresden a one-week course ''reactor physics'' that includes the know-how of the nuclear power plant construction company. The Technical University of Dresden has the training reactor AKR-2 that is retrofitted by modern digital instrumentation and control technology that allows the practical training of reactor control.

[en] This paper will report on the development and validation of a newly developed technique for the surface detection of liquid metals known as Double-Layer-Projection. Free surface position will be detected both spatially and temporally. The circular hydraulic jump is experimentally studied of a liquid-metal (InGaSn) flow. Independent measurements are provided by an ultrasound system. The development of the experimental techniques will be discussed in the context of their application to ADS. (orig.)
