AbstractAbstract
[en] We have developed a 'Multi channel probe synthesis system' which uses 5 transducers with 5 elements excited by 5 channel pulser/receiver capable adjusting transmitting and receiving times individually. By synthesis of the originating signals from 5 transducers with adjusting time of receiving, we can get a high amplitude signal. 3.9 - 4.6dB higher signals than those without signals synthesis was gained by synthesis of the received signals. AbstractAbstract
[en] To achieve a low-carbon society, we promote utilization of nuclear energy, which plays a zero-emission power generation. Therefore the nuclear power plants have been imposed a stable supply of electricity. The condition based maintenance (CBM) is effective in order to maintain a stable operation of the nuclear power plants. We built the performance diagnosis system based on the heat and mass balance calculation as one of supporting tools for the CBM. Moreover we note that the performance diagnosis system is built for steam turbine cycle operating with saturated steam conditions. (author)

[en] The Mitsubishi Group (MHI and MELCO) has completed the installation of the Integrated Digital I and C System to Tomari Unit 3 of HEPCO (Hokkaido Electric Power Co., Inc.), the newly-built PWR plant for the first time in 15 years in Japan. We have also applied the Integrated Digital I and C System to Ikata Unit 1/2 of SEPCO (Shikoku Electric Power Co., Inc.) during the renewal constructions of the Main Control Boards. The delivery for Unit 1/2 was completed in July and June of 2009, respectively. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] It was learned from the July 2007 Chuetsu-oki Earthquake that a need exists for simulator training methods to be revised to include the assumption of multiple failures such as those which may occur during a large earthquake. At BWR Operator Training Center Corp., multiple failure team training which focuses on plant diagnostic skills (Plant Diagnostic Skills Training) has been developed and implemented since September 2008. The contents of this training along with the results are presented and considered in this paper. (author)

[en] Power Suppression Testing (PST) is recommend for BWR in fuel leak occur. Operation by PST allows to identify leaked fuel bundle, suppresses its power and continue plant operation safely. Shika Nuclear Power Station Unit No.2 (Shika-2) has an experience fuel leak in its 2nd operation cycle, April 2009. This paper describes experience of trouble shooting fuel leak at Shika-2. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] In Tomari Unit 3 (3 Loop type PWR, standard electric power 912MW, commercial operation from December 2009) of HOKKAIDO ELECTRIC POWER CO., INC., zinc injection was started from Hot Function Test (HFT) for radiation exposure reduction. The results of material analysis, chemical analysis, and the same analysis of reference plant were compared to confirm the effects of the zinc injection. And the effects of the expected zinc injection were confirmed. As a result, dose rates of 100% power shutdown have reduced, and we hope that dose rates in the future reduce. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Since 1990, the high strength MnMoNi steel (ASME SA508 Gr.3 Cl.2) forgings have been mainly applied for the material of pressure retaining parts in the replacement of steam generator (SG) for pressurized water reactor (PWR) around the world. Application of high strength steel is realizable to reduce the vessel thickness and weight, so that it can be highly contributed to enhancement of safety against earthquake. This paper describes to summarize the manufacturing points of high strength steel forgings for SG and the comparison with the material properties of conventional steel (ASME SA508 Gr. 3 Cl.1) forgings obtained from JSW's manufacturing experiences. Moreover, the manufacturing experience of SG forging for the new PWR called as Generation III, which is focused for the high output and safety, is also reported. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] In late 2001, pipe rupture accidents due to fast combustion of radiolysis gas occurred in Japan and elsewhere's BWR power plants. TENPES began to set up the guideline as action to such a new problem to prevent accumulation and combustion of radiolysis gas in BWR steam piping. And then, the first edition of guideline was published in October 2005, and the 2nd edition in March 2007. Afterwards, the experimental study about combustion/detonation of radiolysis gas have been continued. And in March 2010, JANTI published the 3rd edition of the guideline. This is the report of the final edition of that guideline. According to this guideline, it became possible to design BWR's steam piping to prevent pipe rupture accident due to combustion of radiolysis gas. (author)
