AbstractAbstract
[en] We report a case of multiple myeloma in which the CT only shows osteolytic lesions and MRI only shows compressive fractrue, but the scan shows some interesting imaging that make us to think of multiple myeloma. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] We investigated metabolic patterns in severe diffuse axonal injury patients using three-dimensional stereotactic surface projection (3D-SSP) technique. (Material and methods) Subjects was defined as the 23 diffuse axonal injury patients having a Coma Remission Scale of < 20 points on the PET examination in chronic stage. Normal volunteers were selected as normal database. For normal volunteers and patients, FDG-PET was carried out and 3D-SSP analysis was performed in group. (authors)

[en] According to Wang Siegel has long suggested that an earlier indicator of damage to the hearts of cancer patients undergoing potentially cardiotoxic chemotherapy could be change in the left ventricular filling rate (LVFT) rather than dependence on the left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) as a measure for when to discontinue chemotherapy. Currently ejection fraction obtained by performing the nuclear medicine MUGA scan is the gold standard for determining further treatment of patients with these cardiotoxic agents. We are seeking to see if changes in filling rate (LVFR) are an earlier indicator of cardiotoxicity by performing a retrospective analysis of MUGA scans performed at our facility pre- and post-chemotherapy and performing a statistical analysis of changes in ejection fraction us filling rate in patients known to have cardiotoxic changes due to chemotherapy. AbstractAbstract
[en] Aim: To evaluate the role of FDG-PET imaging in assessing the response to therapy in Lymphoma. Totally 61 patients with lymphoma, 17 of Hodgkins disease and 44 of Non-Hodgkins lymphoma were included in the study. The FDG-PET imaging was done after completion of therapy in 43 patients (post 6 courses of chemotherapy) and during therapy in 18 patients (post 1,2,3,4 courses of chemotherapy). In 13 patients FDG-PET was done as a follow up after 1 year of therapy. Results: In 22 out of 61 patients there was evidence of active disease suggesting poor response to therapy, while in the rest of 39 out of 61 patients there was no active disease either at the primary site or rest of the body. Conclusions: Our study highlights the role of FDG-PET scan in assessing the response to chemotherapy in lymphoma. (authors)

[en] The radiation safety issues in the application of radioguided sentinel lymph node (SLN) technique are discussed, particularly the effective dose (ED) for patients undergoing lymphoscintigraphy by taking into account both the internal emission and the external transmission dose. The quantitative result can be compared with other common radiological examinations. Whole body and finger doses of surgical and pathology staff were determined by direct measurement using high-sensitivity thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLDs) and compared with the annual dose limits recommended by the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP). These dosimetric observations for personnel also provide reference information to implement guidelines for the safe handling, storage, and transport of radioactive specimens at all stages of the radioguided surgery effort in order to maintain good work practices while dealing with unsealed radioactive substances. AbstractAbstract
[en] Objective: To screen the peptide ligands of TNF receptor from phage 6-mer peptide library with the purpose of developing new peptides radiopharmaceuticals for TNF receptor imaging. Methods: The soluble protein of TNF receptor I (sTNFR I) was used to screen the TNF-specific epitopes from phage 6-mer peptide library. After four rounds of affinity screening, the peptides displayed on the selected phage were directly subjected to ELISA to determine their immunological activity to sTNFR. The amino acid sequences of the peptides with highest immunological activity were deduced through DNA sequencing. And their conserved sequences were further determined. Results: Peptides sequences mimicking TNF-specific epitopes were obtained. Conclusion: The short peptides sequences mimicking TNF -specific epitopes were successfully acquired. The method which was established in the present study may provide a feasible way in peptides radiopharmaceuticals development for TNF receptor imaging. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] AIM: To evaluate the role of CT- SPECT FUSION imaging in detection and localisation of infection using 99mTc labelled leucocytes. METHOD: Patients who presented with symptoms related to the sites of the prosthesis or metallic implants (7 patients), pyrexia of unknown origin (3 patients) and cellulitis (1 patient). The scintigraphic technique included planar imaging followed by FUSION image of CT and SPECT. Results: The scan was positive for infection in 9 out of 11 patients. In 3 out of 9 patients the planar image findings were equivocal while the SPECT demonstrated descrete focal abnormality. The FUSION image (CT - SPECT) in all the 9 patients accurately localised the focus of infection to the anatomical site which was not possible either on the planar or the SPECT images. Conclusion: In our study SPECT imaging increased the sensitivity of scintigraphy in 33% of the patients. The FUSION image (CT - SPECT) accurately localised the disease to the anatomical site in all the patients. (authors)

[en] Objective: To assess clinical application of 131I therapy and observation of curative effect in the near future after treatment in juvenile patients with hyperthyroidism Methods: 44 juvenile patients with hyperthyroidism were divided two subgroups of that children and early youths .The dosage of 131I were respectively 135.1±34.0(3.65±0.92), 200.2±64.0 MBq(5.41±1.73 mCi). The curative effect belonged in four kinds being to fully recovered, quite a lot, fail to respond to medical and hypothyroidism at six month slater or from then. Results: 46 times treatment were gave and therapy effect was same in every subgroups. The effective rate of total was 89.1% and rater on clinical hypothyroidism was 4.3%. Conclusions: It had an obvious effect that 131I therapy for juvenile patients with hyperthyroidism. 131I therapy was also a firmly good select because a well ratio effect/cost. (authors)

[en] With a big aspiration the concept of Asian School of Nuclear Medicine was introduced about 3 years back in Bangkok. Since then the topic has been discussed in many meetings and now the concept is a reality with appointment of a Dean for the school.It is of great hope that the concept of the school has been accepted by all in tbe region. However to establish an school is not a very easy task. There is nostraight path for it. A regional school with involvement of many countries definitely need to be solved many questions before it really acts as an effective organization. With that sense it may besaid that ASNM is a successful organization at least in formation of an executive body of the school in less than three years time. The school has now a recognition, officially or unofficially, not only in Asia but in rest of the world also. This is the greatest achievement of ASNM. However, the school needs togo a long way before it actually contributes in development of nuclear medicine in the region. ARCCNM is projecting the school but more active support of the countries in the region is essentialin fulfilling the goal of ASNM. More close cooperation of other regional and international bodies likeAOFNMB, CJK will also be helpful. Support of IAEA who was interested in such type of school should be especially explored. The school has come into birth. Now it is our obligation and responsibility to nourish it and give the school a chance to grow healthy. (authors)
