AbstractAbstract
[en] In a small diameter piping, stresses are generated due to internal fluid or pump vibrations especially around the welding parts. Authors have successfully developed a pipe strain sensor which is able to measure such stresses. Unlike conventional methods using strain gages and adhesive bond, the sensor can measure the strain without putting adhesive bond on the piping surface. However, the strain sensor can provide measurements with a level of accuracy equivalent to that of conventional method using strain gages and adhesive bond. Accordingly, the strain sensor can significantly reduce the working time without any loss of the measurement accuracy. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Many Swagelok connections are used in the instrumental tube pipe of Nuclear power plant because Swagelok connection is easy to put on and take off quickly. Although Swagelok connection is easy handling, it occurs very small amount of leakage in some case. For the purpose of development of quick repair method for small amount leakage of Swagelok connection, we considered the base technique about the miniature cramp for Swagelok connection. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] This paper describes localization and cable handling method as the underlying techniques for underwater survey robot. Map matching method comparing cross-sectional shape data cut from a 3-D CAD with structural shapes measured by a range sensor is proposed as the localization. The cable handling system mounted to a robot is developed to operate the cable remotely. Some experiments to evaluate performance of the proposed techniques were implemented at mock-ups of a reactor building and the real field. As a result, it was confirmed that the position was detected with an accuracy of 100 mm, and 100 m cable was handled. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] At the Tokai Reprocessing Plant (TRP), spent fuels are dissolved in nitric acid and the dissolved liquid is fed to the extractors (mixer settlers). In the mixer settlers, both uranium and plutonium are extracted by the solvent that contains tri-butyl phosphate. It is important to control the interface between organic and aqueous phase in the settlers And the interface is controlled by the flow control valve. This valve has maintainability problems because it takes a fair amount of time to maintenance. In addition, this is imported product, the production costs are high, and the delivery period for this valve is long. Therefore, we have tried to ohtain same type of valves with the confines of the country. This paper describes the trials and same experimental results. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] JNFL have developed the vitrification technology of a high level liquid waste with a modification in discharge performance of the noble metal by changing the bottom structure and adding heating means. Cold test was conducted by using a full scale mock-up melter which introduced the new vitrification technology. In the cold test, we confirmed the discharge performance of the noble metal. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Negative atmospheric pressure is an isolation technique used in nuclear facilities including vessels and hot-cells to prevent release of radioactive materials. In the related system, differential pressure switches are very important function for process monitoring such as liquid level and negative pressure in a reprocessing process. Although air-tight switches have been using to avoid radioactive contamination, such type of switch have not meet requirements for precise operation under deep negative pressure. Therefore, we have been investigation an improved types of switches to overcome the problem. We have developed a prototype switch and made some vibration and endurance tests. Their results are described in this paper. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] We have developed Check Valve Inspection System using acoustic emission sensor and ultrasonic sensor, to examine degradation and detailed motion (Full open, Tapping, Oscillation, etc.) of the swing check valve. This inspection system was applied check valves in the seawater system line of domestic nuclear power plants. The examination was carried out before and after replacing the check valve. Comparing the results of the inspection system and the results of overhaul, effectiveness of this system has been shown. (author)
