AbstractAbstract
[en] At an instantaneous luminosity of 5 x 1034 cm-2 s-1, the high-luminosity phase of the Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) is expected to deliver a total of 3000 fb-1 of collisions, hereby increasing the discovery potential of the LHC experiments significantly. To fully exploit this opportunity and to address the associated challenges CMS is preparing a detector upgrade plan. This talk will concentrate on the upgrade of the CMS tracker for the HL-LHC. The present status of the project will be summarized, including the future tracker layout, the design of module prototypes, the status of the front-end electronic components, studies of various silicon sensor materials and its capability to contribute to the level-1 trigger decision. AbstractAbstract
[en] This paper describes the design methodology adopted for the RF protection interlock system being developed for LEHIPA project at Electronics Division, BARC. The objective of the RF protection interlock (RFPI) system is to monitor and protect the high power RF components of the accelerator system such as klystron, RF windows, RF Coupler and RF Cavity. The paper also describes a mezzanine card based approach for realization of the RFPI system. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A compact, hand held controller based Advanced Digital Count Rate Meter (ADCRM) as a replacement of bulky Count Rate (analog) Meters (SBL-2A) was designed, developed and fabricated to carry out Gamma-Ray borehole logging with Geiger Muller (GM) tubes and Scintillation (SC) detectors. In the hardware the functionality of analog meter simulation, digital counting of gamma events and auto reference adjustment to use different length of armour cable winches were implemented. The in-built software evaluates grade in ppm and at the end of logging, the reports are prepared automatically. ADCRM was developed in-house to assist the uranium mineral exploration in AMD. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Measurement of nucleonic signals is required to control and operate the reactor in a safe and reliable manner. To achieve this, parameters like Neutron flux, other radiation fields, contamination levels, source strength, release thru stack etc. are required to be monitored and controlled. The above are required to be monitored throughout the life of the reactor whether it is operational or in shutdown condition. In addition such monitoring is also required during decommissioning phase of the reactor as needed. To measure these parameters a large number of instruments are used in Nuclear Power Plants (NPP) which includes sensors and electronics for detecting alpha, beta, gamma and neutron radiation with qualification to withstand harsh environment

AbstractAbstract
[en] A compact low power micro-controller based Hand held Beta/Gamma Survey Meter has been designed and developed for Gamma Dose rate and contamination radiation measurement. The survey meter uses GM tube and Pancake Detector covered with protection grill. An analog two channel shaping amplifier with discriminator has been developed to work with SMD component to produce a low power, lightweight unit. It is a low power Micro-controller based survey meter. It process, store and displays data in real time. This paper describes the design concept and functional detail of Beta/Gamma Survey meter including the firmware flow chart. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] HDL programmable devices viz. CPLDs and FPGAs are increasingly being used to implement digital designs in the I and C systems performing safety functions of nuclear power plants. Synthesizable RTL descriptions manually written in HDLs are the first step in developing industry standard large scale digital designs. The reliability of the implementation is determined by the methodologies followed by the designer during development. Very few guidelines on HPD design practices, specific to nuclear industry are available. This paper presents an overview of the existing guidelines such as IEC 62566 and U.S. NRC's 'Review guidelines for FPGAs in nuclear power plant safety systems'. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Superconducting radio frequency (SCRF) cavities are the heart of any particle accelerator based on SCRF technology. All over the world, efforts are being made to develop a technique which can bring down the cost and time of fabrication of these cavities. The present day fabrication method of SCRF cavities uses Electron beam welding (EBW) technique. The cavities fabricated by this method turn out to be expensive and take long fabrication time. To overcome such difficulties related with EBW process, an innovative concept for fabrication of SCRF cavities based on laser welding was formulated at RRCAT. International patent application was immediately launched for this work, to protect intellectual property rights of DAE
