[en] In this work, the optimal conditions for assembling a fuel cell containing membranes of different parameters and from different manufacturers were studied. Influence of membrane thickness, glass transition temperature and equivalent mass of ionomer used for membrane production was studied. Individual fuel cells were characterized in terms of their total ohmic resistance and maximum achieved power. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Biological testing of newly prepared polymer and nanoparticle systems for biomedicine is an integral part of their characterization. New in vivo imaging techniques (SPECT/CT, PET/CT, MRI, ultrasound, etc.) are now practically available under selected conditions. The paper presents the biological, legislative and economic aspects of animal experiments. The findings are based on a three-year cooperation of both institutes provided by the author himself. AbstractAbstract
[en] The aim of this work was to use the Glid-Arc method to decompose selected representatives from the group of CFCs and characterize the resulting decomposition products. The apparatus used, based on the glow discharge principle, enabled efficient decomposition of incoming hydrocarbons due to the small channel width. The functionality of the apparatus was verified by decomposition of CF4 in both air and argon atmosphere. In the case of argon, discharge and quenching of elemental carbon occurred at the electrodes. The CFC-112, CFC-113 and CFC-114B2 freons were decomposed in the experiment. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The preparation of the oxide nanoparticles by precipitation is a very easy and fast method to ensure the formation of nanoparticles of very small dimensions, in the order of nanometer units. However, due to the need to study different categories of nanoparticle sizes, the precipitation reaction may seem inappropriate due to too complicated affecting the kinetics of the reaction and thus affecting the size of the prepared nanoparticles. Therefore, the influence of increased temperature of nanoparticles prepared by precipitation method was studied in this work. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] One of the most important characteristics of nanomaterial samples is their size. Methods for measuring the thickness of 0D, 1D and 2D materials are significantly limited (e.g. AFM, TEM). The scanning electron microscope method with EDS detector eliminates some limitations of thickness measurement. The solution of the problems of measuring the layers thickness 1D material is demonstrated on a carbon fiber brush electrode with a Br layer. These problems are the curvature of the sample and preparation of samples for the contact methods. This method can measure one or more layers of samples that have a high roughness and have no sharp edges. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] In this work we present unique approach for immobilization of electrochemically synthesized silver nanoparticles on polyethyleneterephthalate foil based on physical incorporation of particles into thin polymer surface layer induced by polarized excimer laser light [2]. Depending on the concentration of nanoparticle solution in immobilization process, one can effectively control surface morphology of processed sample, thus tailoring its specific surface area. Changes in chemical composition and the surface structure of polymer after the particle immobilization were studied by advanced analytical techniques such as ARXPS, EDX, RBS, FEGSEM, TEM, and AFM. AbstractAbstract
[en] Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (ToF-SIMS) is an analytical method applicable in many scientific fields due to its high resolution, with mass resolutions up to Δm/m ∼ 10,000 and lateral resolutions up to ∼ 100 nm. In this work we deal with the chemical analysis of the Kosice meteorite (fragments 77/1, 77/2), which fell in the vicinity of Kosice on February 28, 2010. Based on mass spectra we obtained a chemical composition and compared it with previous methods, while identifying isotopes chemical elements important in the classification of meteorites. (authors)
