AbstractAbstract
[en] Within the project HISENTS, the sensor platform for nanotoxicity has been developed. Toxicity of nanoparticles is related to their concentration in the organ under consideration and time of exposure. Both, the concentration and exposure time, can be estimated from physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modelling. The PBPK model enables to describe the ADME (absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion) process and, hence, to predict the concentration of NPs in the organs and time of exposure. Application of the PBPK model is demonstrated on the treatment of in vivo distribution of PEGylated nanoparticles in rats. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] This contribution is focused on fabrication processes of nanostructured material formed from organic self-assembly (nicotine amide supergelators), polymers (zwitterionic polymers and their copolymers), metal carbide (Mxene, WC) and alloy-based nanocomposite. Moreover, their application such as reusable fuel gels, controlled solution (upper critical solution temperature) and cell adhesion materials, biosensing, sustainable osmotic engine and in heterogenous catalytic processes such as direct methanol fuel cells and hydrogen evolution reaction will be presented and discussed. AbstractAbstract
[en] In the presented study, the possibilities of preparation of silver nanoparticles where alumina was used as a substrate were investigated. These composites were prepared by chemical reduction of silver ions using various reducing agents (maltose, sodium borohydride, hydrazine). The effect of pH value, the effect of the presence of a stabilizer (sodium polyacrylate), the effect of the presence of a complex agent of silver ions (ammonia) on the characteristics of the prepared composites were also studied. AbstractAbstract
[en] Hierarchically porous monolithic carbon represents an ideal platform for various types of studies - from the development of new characterization techniques (thermoporometry), through the solution of surface oxidation kinetics of carbon, testing of adsorption phenomena (gases, solutions), searching for surface treatment options (introduction of heteroatoms) to carbon use as carriers of catalytically active nanoparticles (metals, TiO2). The possibility of pore size control in such materials (especially mesopores in the range of 10-50 nm) is a completely unresolved issue. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Polydopamine layers were prepared by spontaneous polymerization of dopamine in a weakly alkaline environment on a glass or polymer substrate. Subsequently, Ag NPs prepared by in-situ reduction of silver nitrate with either maltose in an ammoniacal medium or sodium citrate were applied to the prepared layers. The layers thus obtained were characterized by UV-VIS, IR, AAS, Raman spectroscopy and also electron microscopy. Selected samples were tested for their antibacterial activity against E. coli bacteria. The possibility of their use as an active substrate for SERS was also investigated for samples prepared on a glass substrate. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Spherical silver nanoparticles and silver nanoprisms were synthesized and characterized for homogeneity and size and shape distribution by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Subsequently, their stability and potential toxicity were verified using UV-VIS spectrometry and electrochemical sensors, with an emphasis on the formation of undesired reactive oxygen species. This work is intended to assist in the development of sensitive nanocarriers for targeted drug delivery and controlled release to cancer cells. (authors)

[en] The preparation and electrochemical properties of Ni-W and Ni-Fe electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution were studied. The catalytic properties of the prepared materials were quantified in a zero gap electrolyser for alkaline electrolysis of water. 3D nickel foam was used as a substrate, on which coatings were deposited by electroplating. The properties of the prepared samples were investigated by several analyzes (SEM, XRD, EDX, XPS). The efficiency of the prepared catalysts with respect to their stability was compared. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The A-CINCH project is the latest project in the series of CINCH projects. It primarily addresses the loss of the young generation's interest for nuclear knowledge by focusing on secondary, high school students and teachers and involving them by the 'Learn through Play' concept. In addition, it focuses on coordination activities in both education and training field at all levels of academic and professional career in nuclear and radiochemistry (NRC). Current A-CINCH progress will be presented, namely Massive Open On-line Courses runs and Virtual Laboratory development, which are high tech e-learning tools designed to attract younger students to the field of radiochemistry and chemistry in general. In addition, the recently established CINCH Vocational Education and Training e-shop will be presented as an entry point where students and professionals meet with the providers of courses and training.
