AbstractAbstract
[en] Proton dose gradient effects in the proton dosimetry situation are studied analytically using one-speed diffusion equation. Dose distribution has been studied for pure coulombic and coulombic plus nuclear interaction conditions. This results in the violation of the equation of continuity and Bragg gray cavity theory. AbstractAbstract
[en] The phenomenon of scattering is an important tool to understand the structure of particles and forces between them. Essentially, the scattering theory in non-relativistic quantum mechanics is concerned with the solution of Schrödinger wave equation for variety of potentials with appropriate boundary conditions. Two common approaches to scattering problems in quantum mechanics are the method of partial waves and Born approximation methods. In this paper we extend the formalism of the method of partial waves for relativistic case and apply the method to study scattering by few well known potentials. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Medical Internal Radiation Dosimetry formalism has been implemented for a liquid source by establishing CR 39 SSNTD based alpha spectroscopy. The alpha tracks were isolated by establishing track diameter-brightness correlation. The equilibrium dose has been estimated by convoluting the obtained equilibrium alpha spectrum with corresponding stopping powers. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Research reactors have a wide range of applications in the fields like research, medicine, agriculture, industry, etc. Reactor physics plays an important role in the design as well as safe and reliable operation of a reactor. BARC has three functional research reactors currently. In this paper, we discuss important reactor physics aspects and the scope of development with respect to research reactors at Trombay. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] This work aims to obtain self-shielding factors (G) for several activation foils, including copper, tungsten, magnesium, molybdenum, hafnium, and indium in neutron spectrum energy measurements in the various beam tubes of KAMINI reactor. Knowing the self-shielding factors allows for precise nuclear reaction rates to be obtained without the effects of neutron flux depression inside activation foils. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The high intensity Bremsstrahlung has been successfully measured by using BC501A liquid organic scintillator. The n-gamma separation and primary gamma selection were attributed by configuring ADCPSD and Time of flight-ADC gates. The response spectrum is unfolded using the response matrix of BC501A for gammas and final Bremsstrahlung spectrum has been achieved. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The issue of longer pulse shapes from larger volume calorimeters has been attributed to using a C-R-based pulse shaping circuit. The entrance channel independent pulse decay has been implemented through a pseudo-switched capacitor configuration. The pulse length of the preamplifier pulses has been reduced to an order of two by maintaining the voltage and charge correlation. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Cluster radioactivity is a rare type of nuclear emission in which the parent nucleus emits a cluster of nucleons, which is heavier than the alpha particle but lighter than the typical binary fission fragments. The half-life of different isotopes of the Platinum nucleus is calculated with the Coulomb proximity potential model by employing different proximity potentials. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The present study attempts to obtain an a priori estimate of the absorbed dose received by an individual engaged in the reconnaissance survey in uranium exploration using a predictive mathematical regression analysis. Other radiation safety parameters such as External hazard index (Hex) and excess lifetime cancer risk (ELCR) are also calculated. Study also reflects that the proper handling of naturally occurring radioactive materials (NORMs) accounts for an absorbed dose significantly less than the prescribed limit. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] This paper presents the concentration of uranium in 22 groundwater samples of Chamarajanagar District, Karnataka State, India, estimated using an LED fluorimeter. The age-dependent ingestion dose to the population of the district is also studied. The concentration of uranium in groundwater varied from 0.7 to 15μgl-1 with an average of 4.89μgl-1. The annual ingestion dose due to uranium varies from 0.57 to 12.22μSvy-1, with an average of 3.98μSvy-1. The ingestion dose received by the population in the study area is less than the recommended limit of 100μSvy-1 by WHO. (author)
