[en] We suggest that the present experimental evidence for two Λ+sub(c) mass levels may have a deep physical significance and can be taken as the first hint of (cu) and (cd) diquark substructures within the baryon. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The precession angle of a polarization vector is calculated for a positively charged short-lived baryon channeling between single-crystal planes. When very energetic polarized baryons are produced such that the production plane of the baryon is almost parallel to the crystal plane, it is shown that the interaction of the polarization with inhomogeneous electric fields inside the crystal can be neglected from the equation of motion of the particle. In this case, the equation of motion of the polarization vector becomes the same as when the electric field is homogeneous. It is also shown that when the crystal is bent perpendicular to the planar direction, the precession angle of the polarization vector of short-lived baryons can be expressed as ΔTHETAsub(R)sup(tau)=γ2[(2-g+g/γ2)]upsilonrhotau/2R under the same condition as above, where γ is the Lorentz factor, g the g factor of the magnetic moment, R the bending radius of the crystal and tau the lifetime of the particle. It is also shown that in some cases this precession should be large enough to determine the magnetic moment of short-lived particles, such as the charmed baryon Λsub(c)+. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] In a sample of diffractive events of high multiplicity a sharp five standard deviation signal is observed at M=2255 MeV/c2 in the K-pπ+ mass distribution and, although with less statistical strength, at the same mass in the Λ0π+π+π- channel. These signals are identified as being due to the decay of the charmed baryon Λ+sub(c) which is produced with a cross section times branching ratio sigmasub(c)B in the range 0.7-1.8 μb for the K-π+p decay and 0.3-0.7 μb for the Λ0 π+π+π- system. AbstractAbstract
[en] We show that in a model where fragmentation functions are created from jet calculus followed by recombination, the fragmentation function of charmed quarks into D mesons will fail to peak at low x at currently accessible values of Q2. Likewise, the fragmentation of a c quark into a Λc is much less peaked toward small x than the production of protons by u quarks. The model predicts a magnitude for the fragmentation function much smaller than is experimentally observed

AbstractAbstract
[en] Selection rules for elementary particles taking into account intrinsic characteristics of quarks, leptons and spurions are used for the analysis of experimental data on the decays of charmed particles (D and F mesons, Λsub(c)sup(+) and Σsub(c)sup(+) baryons). It is shown that experimental data are well described by these selection rules. A physical meaning of the Gell-Mann-Feynmann selection rules is discussed. The selection rules ΔQ=ΔS and | ΔS | <= 1 have one physical meaning A qualitative explanation of breaking the selection rules ΔI=1/2 in the hadron decay of strange particles and the rules ΔQ=ΔS in the decays of charmed particles is given

AbstractAbstract
[en] In analyzing the possible quark-diquark substructure in the charmed baryon Λ+c, it is obtained that the dynamical equilibrium of the two most likely configurations, can be the responsible by the existence of two states for this particle, one with a massa of 2.260 MeV/c2. Studies on the several diquark models with some of its applications are made, and modifications of these models, in relation to the diquark representation in the SU(8) group, are made. (L.C.)
