AbstractAbstract
[en] To screen the plants in Elsaraf dam (Gedaref-Sudan ), for their ability to uptake metal ions and the effect of seasonal rain on the availability of these metal ions for plants , trace elements in plant roots and the associated soil were studied in two seasons using atomic absorption spectroscopy and X-ray fluorescence. The nutrient elements, (Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, Co) showed higher concentrations than toxic elements (Cr, Ni, Cd) in both plant and soil samples.Iron has the highest concentration 5490/5660 and 3358/3680 mg/100g, manganese has shown the second highest concentration followed by nickel and zinc. Copper, cobalt and chromium have shown relatively similar concentrations, while cadmium has shown the lowest concentration. In general, almost for all elements the soils have shown higher concentration followed by the plant. Estimation of soil/plant transfer factor (CR) that Cyperus rotandus has the highest affinity towards accumulating most of the metal ions, while the rest of plants have shown almost similar affinity.

AbstractAbstract
[en] The experimental results of sedimentation characteristics of fine-grained tailing at home and abroad are summarized. For fine-grained tailing dam, the particle size of tailing, the discharge concentration of tailing and pore water pressure has significant effects on the sedimentation characteristics of fine-grained tailing dam. Different particle size of tailing will lead to a different structure of tailing deposition, which directly affects the sedimentation characteristics and stability of tailing. The increase of discharge concentration and pore water pressure will also lead to adverse results of tailing sedimentation characteristics. (paper)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The old observation system at Enguri High Dam based on tiltmeters' network (visual readings and data transfer to Tbilisi once per month) was unable to give operative, real time information on the current deformation processes in the dam body. Now an automated telemetric system is installed on the dam, which allows acquisition and transfer of data from three tiltmeter stations to Tbilisi, namely, to geodynamic laboratory of M. Nodia Institute of Geophysics. The data transmitted have a form of electronic tables, that are operatively processed and analyzed in the laboratory. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The chemical reactivity of enaminone 2 toward some nucleophilic and electrophilic reagents was investigated. Enaminone 2 was used as a key precursor for the synthesis of many important heterocyclic compounds. The synthesized compounds were characterized by IR, 1H-NMR, MS spectral and elemental analysis.
