AbstractAbstract
[en] A mini-computer based environmental sample analysis and data storage system has been developed. The system is used for analytical data acquisition, computation, storage of analytical results, and tabulation of selected or derived results for data analysis, interpretation and reporting. This paper discussed the structure, performance and applications of the system

AbstractAbstract
[en] A multipurpose roentgenoradiometric analyzer with digital storage and automatic data processing has been developed. The operating principle of the apparatus is described for different conditions. The analyzer has been tested under the production conditions of tin deposits. The reported results of the tests show that with the aid of the proposed unified device one can solve most of the sampling problems, which creates the necessary prerequisites for developing a base model of the multipurpose roentgenoradiometric analyzer for mining

AbstractAbstract
[en] An apparatus is described for the measurement of the radioactivity of the contents of several elongated receptacles supported in a rotatable disc. It has particular application in the measuremet of the radioactivity in tubes held in a centrifuge analyzer. Three conventional scintillation probes are mounted at equal intervals on a base under the rotatable disc. Upon actuation of a drive motor, three tubes are lowered into the probes for a fixed time while counting takes place. The tubes are then raised and advanced, and the process is repeated. (LL)

AbstractAbstract
[en] This document stresses the importance of measuring the radioactivity of the environment in order to evaluate the radiological exposure of the population. The document emphasizes the necessity of detecting very low levels of radioactivity and the difficulties that it implies. The various components of its basis and the means for its reduction are mentioned. Information on the instruments required to identify and quantify the activities of the different radionuclides is given

AbstractAbstract
[en] The Analytical Chemistry Dvision of Oak Ridge National laboratory (ORNL) serves a multitude of functions for a clientele that exists both in and outside ORNL. These functions fall into the following general categories: (1) analytical research, development, and implementation; (2) programmatic research, development, and utilization; and (3) technical support. The Division is organized into five major sections, each of which may carry out any type of work falling in the three categories mentioned above. Chapters 1 through 5 of this report highlight progress within the five sections (analytical methodology, mass and emission spectrometry, radioactive materials, bio/organic analysis, and general and environmental analysis) during the period January 1, 1982 to December 31, 1982. A short summary introduces each chapter to indicate work scope. Information about quality assurance and safety programs is presented in Chapter 6, along with a tabulation of analyses rendered. Publications, oral presentations, professional activities, educational programs, and seminars are cited in Chapters 7 and 8. Approximately 61 articles, 32 proceedings publications and 37 reports have been published, and 107 oral presentations were given during this reporting period

AbstractAbstract
[en] Considered are methods for detecting elements on electrophoregrams: 1) chemical methods on the formation of characteristic colour products of reactions with different reagents; 2) radiometric methods - according to α-, β-, and γ- activity of elements, labelled with radioisotopes; 3) activation analysis; 4) quantitative determination of matters in zones after their electromigration separation by two methods: matter determination after its elution from the carrier and that directly on the carrier
