AbstractAbstract
[en] Results of 245Am half-life determination are presen-- ted. Americium-245, accumulated following α-decay of radiochemically pure berkelium-249 is used in the experiment. Americium-245 half-life is determined from the measurements of seven preparations with the 2154-1-1M (''Protoka'') device in the 2π-geometry and of seven preparations with the PSO2-2eM device employing the SBT-10 end-window counter. The americium-245 half-life as calculated from the data of 14 preparations measurements, equals 122.5+-0.8 min at a confidence level of 0.95

AbstractAbstract
[en] The nuclear fission is one of the most complex nuclear phenomena in nature and many aspects remain only partially understood even in the 75th year of its discovery. The third minimum has been discussed in the literature for many nuclides like thorium isotopes. The mic-mac approach with Cassini Ovaloid Shape parameterization for the nuclear potential has been utilized to calculate the potential energy surfaces in the actinides. This formalism is due to Garcia et al. The aim of the work is to search for the triple-humped fission barrier which may support the existence of hyper-deformed isomers. The paper look into such a hyper-deformed isomer near the magic numbers predicted around the 3:1 shapes. For the anisotropic-oscillator, the deformed magic numbers for the axes ratio 2:1 are 2, 4, 10, 16, 28, 40, 60, 80, 110, 140 and 182, which are also upwardly modified due to the spin-orbit term as recently shown for the super-deformed nuclei similar to the harmonic oscillator potential for spherical magic numbers. As we go to the higher deformation at 0.86 with axes ratio 3:1, the numbers become 2, 4, 6, 12, 18, 24, 36, 48, 60, 80, 100, 120, 150, 180, and 210. The spin-orbit interaction will modify these numbers upwards too. Therefore, the search for the third well near those magic numbers which lie in the actinide region is focussed. The potential energy surfaces are calculated for the nuclei having Z = 93 to 96 and N ∼ 150 for the search of triple-hump barrier. The calculations show that the third well corresponding to the 3:1 shell structure begins to appear in the deformation range 0.7-0.8 near neutron number 150 and above. The outer barrier decreases as we go from Z=93 to 95 due to increasing Coulomb energy contribution to the barrier. It starts to be more flat and leads to the existence of the deeper third well in the neutron-rich side of the particular isotopic chain. These calculations show that the Am nuclides may be the best candidates for third minimum. The deepest third minimum is observed in 250Am with a depth of 1.29 MeV. The next possible candidate is 251Am. However, the experimentally accessible isotopes may be 244,245Am. These nuclides have sufficiently deep minimum to observe hyper-deformed isomer. However, further calculations are in progress to establish this

AbstractAbstract
[en] Highlights: • Gamma rays following β− decay of the 245Am radionuclide were measured with a 25-cm3 Ge(Li) spectrometer and a mass-separated 245Am source. • Our results provide more accurate values for the gamma-ray energies and intensities for the observed transitions and extend the previously known 245Am β−-decay scheme. • Gamma-ray studies using a mass-separated 245Am source. - Abstract: Gamma rays following the decay of the 245Am radionuclide ( = 2.05 h) were measured in early 1970s with a co-axial Ge(Li) detector using a chemically and isotopically pure, mass-separated 245Am source. These data were analyzed in the present work where several weak rays in 245Cm were identified. The 245Am decay scheme was deduced and extended when compared to the previously known one.

AbstractAbstract
[en] The probabilities of fission and angular distribution of 235U, 239Np and 245Am fission fragments are determined from measurements of proton spectra of (t, p) and (t, pf) reactions on 233U, 237Np, 243Am nuclei. The measurements are carried out at the bombarding triton energy of about 13 MeV and proton detector disposition at 125 deg or 130 deg in relation to a triton beam. The following specific features of odd A nucleus fission are noted. 1. Fission probabilities for the three nuclei under study are growing in the excitation energy range from approximately 5,3 to approximately 6 MeV and slowly falling at higher excitation energies. The maximum probability values are within the range 0,5-0,65. 2. In the behaviour of the dependence of fission fragment spread on the excitation energy there is a maximum the position of which correlates with the fission probability maximum. A similar regularity is distinctly observed in compound even-even nucleus fission
