AbstractAbstract
[en] We analyze collective properties of the 110-116Cd isotopes in the framework of the general Bohr Hamiltonian which is obtained from the ATDHFB theory with the Skyrme interaction. Calculated energies and B(E2) transition probabilities and experimental data are in good agreement. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Random matrix theory (RMT) is used to provide a measure of the chaoticity (q) of calculated results for the spectra for various Cd isotopes. The goal is to gain a better understanding of the internal dynamics in play; namely, whether it tracks with regular or irregular (chaotic) behavior as determined through an RMT analyses of calculated spectra. The basis-state configurations used to determine the spectra includes all positive, negative, natural (J π = 1−, 2+, …), and unnatural parity configurations (J π = 0−, 1+, 2−, …), unless suppressed for comparative purposes. The results show that when intruder-state configurations are in play, regular behavior emerges, but when not in play, chaotic behavior seems to dominate the dynamics. (paper)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The current status of the research on direct experimental determination of nuclear incompressibility from the isoscalar giant monopole resonances (ISGMR) will be reviewed. In particular, it has been observed that the energy of the ISGMR in the Cd and Sn isotopes is significantly lower than theoretical predictions using the interactions that correctly reproduce the ISGMR energies in the closed-shell nuclei, leading to the question: Why are the off-shell nuclei so “fluffy”? Possible shell-structure effects in ISGMR in the A∼90 region reported recently will also be discussed

AbstractAbstract
[en] Portland cement affords both physical and chemical immobilization of cadmium. The immobilization has been studied analyzing the pore fluid of cement samples and characterizing the solid pastes by X-ray diffraction. The influence of cadmium on the cement hydration and on its mechanical properties has been also studied by isothermal conduction calorimetry and by the measure of strength and setting development. Finally, the effect of cement carbonation on the immobilization of cadmium has been analyzed

AbstractAbstract
[en] The book comprises data obtained by the laboratory of radiobiology (Uzbek Research Veterinary Institute) for 15 years and sums up data of domestic and foreign scientists; it discusses problems of the utilization of radioactive isotopes of sulphur, cadmium, phosphorus and other chemical elements by microorganisms; indicates the specificity of the utilization of radioisotopes in microbiology. The influence is considered of external factors on the inclusion of radioisotopes into microorganisms, methods are discussed of obtaining labelled microorganisms and their antigens, radioactivity of bacteria is considered as affected by the consistency and composition of the nutritive medium and other problems

AbstractAbstract
[en] This paper gives details of the metal speciation dynamics. Knowledge of dynamic speciation characteristics allows us to understand nob-equilibrium properties like mobilities and transfer rate constants, and it also enables us to properly interpret analytical data obtained from non-equilibrium techniques. Basic parameters are the rate constants of the association dissociation reactions and the operational time-scale. They are operative in the dynamics of the volume reactions as well as in interfacial transfer process. Dynamics of the volume reaction and dynamics of interfacial reactions are discussed. 1 tab., 1 fig., 2 refs

AbstractAbstract
[en] Coherence between the magnetic sub-levels of the 5s5p3P1 level of cadmium is induced by excitation. A second excitation step and photo-ionization are used to detect the coherence and perturbation by the nuclear angular momentum. The ionization probability of even isotopes is suppressed with respect to the odd isotopes by a factor 59. (orig.)
