AbstractAbstract
[en] A loading dilatometer of novel design was used to study the sintering behavior of CdO powder compacts subjected to stresses between 0 and 0.25 MPa at 973 to 1123 K. Densification and creep occur simultaneously. Although both the volumetric densification rate and the uniaxial creep rate show an approximately inverse relation with time, the creep rate increases with stress, whereas the densification rate is independent of stress

AbstractAbstract
[en] The EPR of Mn(II) in Cd(HCOO)22H2O single crystals were studied at room temperature. The spectra depend on the orientation of the crystal plane in the external magnetic field. The spin Hamiltonian parameters are evaluated. Deviation of the g parameter from the free spin electron value is observed. The spin Hamiltonian parameters are g is parallel to 2.0018, g is perpendicular to 1.949, a = -88 x 104 cm-1, D=282 and E=125. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A study was made on a possible occurrence ferrimagnetizm in nonmagnetic ferrites-spinels ZnFe2O4 and CdFe2O4 caused by a slight change in the cation distribution in them (without changes in the chemical composition). Isotherms for ZnFe2O4 and CdF2O4 sample magnetization after quenching and slow cooling are presented. It is shown that quenching from high temperatures doesn't result in obtaining zinc and cadmium spinels in the ferrimagnetic state

AbstractAbstract
[en] Highlights: • A broadband photodetector based on Si/ZnO/CdO heterojunctions is fabricated. • Thepotential barrierat ZnO/CdO interface reduces the possibility of recombination. • The piezo-phototronic effect is used to enhance the performance of photodetectors. The broadband and self-powered photodetectors have attracted significant attention due to the versatility and without extra energy. In this work, we fabricate a self-powered and broadband photodetector based on Si/ZnO/CdO three-component heterojunctions. The photodetector has a fast response time (shorter than 0.45 s) to the ultraviolet and visible illumination at 0 V bias. CdO film is used as the transparent electrode because of the superior electrical characterization and the appropriate band structure of ZnO/CdO, which facilitates electrons transferring from ZnO nanorods to the CdO electrode and reflects holes back into the ZnO, thus reducing recombination at the ZnO/CdO interface and enhancing photocurrent. Moreover the performance of the photodetector is optimized and significantly enhanced by the piezo-phototronic effect of ZnO nanorods. This work may provide a potential approach to enhance the performance of self-powered and broadband photodetectors.

AbstractAbstract
[en] Thin films of transparent conducting n-type cadmium oxide have been deposited on glass substrates by a modified reactive thermal evaporation technique. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray fluorescence analysis confirm that the films are cadmium oxide. XRD also reveals that the 250 C annealed films are polycrystalline with a preferred orientation along the (111) diffraction plane. The lattice parameter was found to be 4.961 A. The films show a high optical transmittance (70-92 %) in the visible and near-infrared regions of the electromagnetic spectrum. A direct bandgap value of 2.45±0.05eV has been obtained for the CdO film. The room temperature resistivity, carrier concentration and mobility were determined as 1.45 x 10-3Ωcm, 7.35 x 10-19cm-3 and 59.77cm2/V s, respectively

AbstractAbstract
[en] In the approximation of polymer chains of the valence force field method the calculation of frequencies and forms of normal modes of double oxides with ilmenite structure MTiO3 (M - Mg, Zn, Cd) is made. The range of frequencies above 470 cm-1 is described by Ti - O bond vibration, the range of 200 - 450 cm-1 - by M - O bond vibration (M - Mg, Zn, Cd), below 250 cm-1 - the complex mainly deformation vibrations of titanium polyhedrons and bivalent cations. Force constants of Ti - O bond are within 3.5 x 106 cm-2, of Mo - O bond - 1.1 - 1.6 x 106 cm -2, which points to considerable contribution of covalent constituent to metal - oxygen bond in double oxides with ilmenite structure
