[en] Shell Model calculations have been carried out using a full spsdpf 2hω, model space and a PMM interaction. The neutron and alpha particle channels have been calculated and compared to our recently completed experiments for various methods of managing the strong interaction between the 0hω and 2hω states. Preliminary results with Warburton and Browns interaction will also be reported

[en] A method was developed for making high-purity carbon-14 films by radio-frequency cracking of carbon-14 labelled acetylene. The method requires only small volumes of acetylene and achieves isotopic purity of over 95% in the targets produced. The process has overall efficiency of about 22% with about 29% of the acetylene deposited on the target discs. A process for making acetylene from carbon-14 labelled barium carbonate by reacting the carbonate with magnesium and the resulting carbide with water was found to give better yields than the process based on reaction of the carbonate with lithium

AbstractAbstract
[en] The differential cross section for negative-pion photoproduction in the reaction 12C(γ,π-p) has been measured as a function of the proton emission angle and proton energy. The momentum of the product pion and the angle of its emission have been found to be 524 MeV/c and 54 degree sign , respectively. Our measurements have been performed in the photon-energy range 620-740 MeV. The results of these measurements have been analyzed in the quasifree approximation

[en] We measured the average analyzing power (Ay) and the efficiency of a neutron polarimeter that was designed for use in experiments to measure the electric form factor of the neutron at Bates and CEBAF. The measurements used the 14C(p, n) 14N with polarized protons at IUCF. For incident neutron energies of 159.5 and 195 MeV, (Ay) is 0.329±0.006 and 0.300±0.008, respectively; the corresponding efficiencies are 0.16% and 0.28%. With a lead-steel wall, consisting of 10 cm of lead sandwiched between 3.5-cm steel plates, ahead of the polarimeter, the average analyzing power is 0.307±0.008 for 159.5 MeV incident neutrons. This result indicates a small depolarization from the lead-steel wall
