AbstractAbstract
[en] In the course of preparing peanut oil type triglycerides for metabolism studies, methyl esters of deuterated behenic acid, a saturated 22-carbon fatty acid, with zero, two, and six deuterium atoms were synthesized. The specific positions of deuterium atoms and the completion of deuteration in the products were characterized by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry methods. (author)

[en] The methyl ester of trans-chrysanthemic acid (a constituent of natural pyrethrins) has been regio- and stereospecifically deuteriated in the olefinic (76%D) and the cyclopropane ring (67%D) protons in a one stage synthesis as shown by 1H nmr spectroscopy. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A new use of Tc-99m glucoheptonate (GH) in detection of the nature of decreased uptake in liver colloid scintigraphy is described. 47 defects in liver scintigraphies of 27 patients with malignant liver processes accumulated almost similarly GH as the surrounding liver tissue or even more, whereas 10 defects of 5 patients with benign liver diseases did not accumulate GH markedly. GH seems to be very promising in detection of malignant liver processes

AbstractAbstract
[en] The invention relates to compositions capable of being hardened by means of actinic radiations. A composition of that type comprises chemically-bound portion of at least one hydroalkyl ester of an α, β, insaturated carboxylic acid and of one halogenated activator with free radicals likely to be activated by actinic radiations, and, contingently, one or several non-chemically bound, copolymerizable ethylene-insaturated compounds; after it has been exposed to actinic radiations, such a composition hardens with little or no inhibition by oxygen. This can be applied to the preparation of protective or ornemental coatings for a variety of supports

AbstractAbstract
[en] 3-Aminothieno[2,3-b]pyridine-2-carboxylic acid esters readily reacted with 3,5-dimethyl-1-(cyanoacetyl)-1H-pyrazole to give previously unknown N-(thieno[2,3-b]pyridin-3-yl)cyanoacetamides. Reactions of the latter with 2-(arylmethylidene)malononitriles were nonselective, and mixtures of different heterocyclization products were generally formed. The cyclization of ethyl 4,6-dimethyl-3-[(cyanoacetyl)amino]thieno[2,3-b]-pyridine-2-carboxylate afforded 2,4-dihydroxy-7,9-dimethylthieno[2,3-b : 4,5-b′]dipyridine-3-carbonitrile whose tautomeric equilibrium was studied by DFT quantum chemical calculations. In silico analysis of biological activity of the synthesized compounds was performed.

AbstractAbstract
[en] Retinyl acetate (4a) has been prepared with a tritium label at the C-11 and C-12 positions by partial reduction of oxenin (1) with tritium gas followed by acetylation and rearrangement. Specific activities of up to 40 curies/mmole have been attained. By alkaline hydrolysis, retinol (5) has been obtained and derivatized as one of several retinyl esters or has been oxidized to all-trans retinoic acid (6) having equally high specific tritium activities. From beta ionone (12), 13-cis retinoic acid (10) has been elaborated in a variety of isotopically labeled forms. A key reaction in the sequence, the Wittig coupling of the triphenylphosphonium derivative of vinyl beta ionol (15a-c) and the butenolide, 5-hydroxy-4-methyl-2(5H)-furanone (8), provides access to 13-cis retinoic acid and its 4-oxo metabolite labeled with either isotopic hydrogen or carbon. AbstractAbstract
[en] Synthetic resins containing hydroxy groups and polymerizable carbon-carbon bonds are reacted with diketenes to yield aceto ester derivatives, which when reacted with metal compounds to form chelates, and mixed with copolymerizable monomers, are capable of being hardened by unusually low radiation doses to form coatings and articles with superior properties.
