AbstractAbstract
[en] This paper shows the design of a second-order multi-bit ΔΣ modulator with hybrid structure for ADSL applications. A modified two phase non-overlapping clock generator is designed to let PH2 borrow 12% of the time from PH1, which relaxes the speed of OTAs, comparators and the DEM block. The clock feed through problem of the passive adder is solved by revising the timing of the comparators and the adder. The chip is designed and fabricated in UMC 0.18 μm CMOS technology. Measurement results show that with an oversampling ratio of 32 and a clock rate of 80 MHz, the modulator can achieve 79 dB dynamic range, 71.3 dB SNDR, 11 mW power consumption from a 1.8 V power supply. The FOM is 1.47 pJ/step.

AbstractAbstract
[en] Recently, Ethernet has been chosen as a replacement for standard-based instrumentation. Its performance is increasing, thanks to speeds of 1 Gbps, 10 Gbps and beyond on backplanes, which expands the instrumentation and measurement potential. However, these high-speed serial links need to be able to retain the integrity of the data stream through some type of equalization. This paper proposes a new differential power comparator, to be used in continuous-time adaptive equalizers inside these Ethernet-based instruments. (technical design note)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Open systems and standards in a multi product environment are the EURATOM guidelines. Consequently, the OSI model, UNIX (POSIX) and X/OPEN specifications determine the EURATOM informatic strategy. The major objectives are the development of secured telecommunications, the migration to open systems and the integration of data processing from measurements in the plants to accountancy the headquarters

AbstractAbstract
[en] This work consists in designing and developing a centralized system for telemetry using measurement stations. We have studied the measurement station, then we have chosen the technologies related to the project. A technical study has permitted to master the development of embedded applications with microcontrollers, especially the Intel 8051 family, the GSM network, and data transmitting protocols. We have then developed the application using an integrated development environment named μ vision 2 from keil software and centralized system using Visual Basic. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] We consider indoors communications networks using modulated LEDs to transmit the information packets. A generic indoor channel equalization formulation is proposed assuming the existence of both line of sight and diffuse emitters. The proposed approach is of relevance to emergent indoors distributed sensing modalities for which various lighting based network communications protocols are considered.

AbstractAbstract
[en] Present status is reported on several R and D issues related to world-wide analysis for forthcoming high-energy collider experiments. This study includes (1) high-density computer farm with effective configuration and management capability (2) high throughput data storage mechanisms covering disk arrays and hierarchical storage architecture, and (3) high-performance massive data transfer techniques on large latency WAN. Understanding these basic technologies is necessary for the deployment of developing data grid computing
