AbstractAbstract
[en] Complete text of publication follows. The on-line nuclear orientation technique was used to study the structures of 186Pt populated following the decay of 186Au (T1/2 = 10.7 min). The orientation of gold nuclei was produced using the hyperfine field in a ferromagnetic host at a low temperature (∼ 15 mK) which was achieved in a 3He-4He dilution refrigerator. The directional distributions of γ-rays were measured by high resolution Ge(Li) detectors. With these measurements unique spin-parity assignments were made to most of the populated levels in 186Pt and the multipole mixing ratios of many mixed transitions were obtained. The structure of 186Pt was examined using the neutron-proton interacting boson approximation (IBA-2). The energy levels were fitted, and the mixing ratios of some selected transitions were calculated and compared with the experimental results. The set of model parameters indicates that 186Pt has a structure intermediate between the γ-soft, O(6), and rotational, SU(3), limits of the IBA. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The low temperature nuclear orientation facility KOOL was used for a systematical study of the very neutron-deficient Au isotopes where the on-line technique is compulsory due to the short lifetimes involved. The measurement of the magnetic moment of the 4.6 min 189Au 11/2- isomer, a preliminary result on the same state in tsub(1/2) = 0.9 sec 191Au and the moment value of the tsub(1/2) = 10.7 min 186Au 3- ground state is reported. Several spins and mixing ratios in 189Pt, 186Pt and 191Au have been determined as well

AbstractAbstract
[en] Gamma-gamma and gamma-electron coincidence data have been taken for the transitions observed in the decay of 186Au to 186Pt. Sources of 186Au were produced by the 181Ta(12C,7n) reaction at the Holifield Heavy Ion Research Facility and mass separated using UNISOR. We identify several electric monopole (E0) transitions. Of particular interest is a pure E0 transition between two 3+ states. These states are members of two coexisting low-lying Kπ = 2+ bands. The results will be discussed in the context of shape coexistence and nuclear deformation

AbstractAbstract
[en] We report the first on-line measurements of quadrupole-interaction-resolved nuclear magnetic resonance on oriented nuclei. The 10-min 186Au activity was obtained as daughter after cold implantation of mass-separated 186Hg into a hcp Co single crystal at the NICOLE facility at ISOLDE-3 (CERN). The quadrupole interaction of 186AuCo(hcp) was fully resolved, and the spectroscopic quadrupole moment of 186Au was determined to be Q=+3.12(20) b. This implies β2=+0.246(16), proving the large prolate deformation of the 186Au ground state

AbstractAbstract
[en] The high-spin level structure of 186Au is re-investigated by means of in-beam γ-ray spectroscopy via the 172Yb(19F, 5nγ)186Au reaction. The oblate bands previously reported are revised and extended to higher-spin states. A new Iπ = (20+) excited state has been identified and assigned to the πh11/2-1 ⊗νi13/2-2h9/2-1 configuration. The total Routhian surface and cranked shell model calculations suggest that the πh11/2-1 ⊗νi13/2-2h9/2-1 band in 186Au has a non-axial deformation. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The nuclear spins of some neutron deficient gold isotopes have been measured using the atomic-beam magnetic resonance method. The following results have been obtained:186Au (10.7 min)I=3, 187Au(8.5 min)I=1/2, 188Au(8.8 min)I=1 189Au(28.3 min)I=1/2 and sup(189m)Au(4.6 min)I=11/2. The spins of these typical transitional nuclei are discussed briefly in terms of various nuclear models. (Auth.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Low-spin states of 182Ir populated through the β+/EC decay of 182Pt were studied using the ISOCELE facility. A low-spin level scheme has been established. Using a semi-microscopic rotor-plus-two-quasiparticle model developed in the context of the HF+BCS approximation the influence of the Vp-n interaction on the relative energy location of excited states has been studied and the low-spin states located at low energy in 182Ir have been identified. The α-decay energy of 186Au has been corrected to 4907±16 keV. (author) 62 refs.; 13 figs.; 2 tabs

AbstractAbstract
[en] The transitional doubly-odd iridium nuclei with A = 184 and 186 have been studied from the β+/EC decay of the corresponding platinum isotopes using the on-line mass separator ISOCELE. Configurations can be reasonably Attributed to the low-lying states of /sup 184/Ir in agreement with results already known. On the other hand an E3 transition observed in /sup 186/Ir suggests that the known long-lived 1.7h 2- state is located at 137.5 keV above the 16h 5+ state, raising questions about structure of this latter state
