AbstractAbstract
[en] Two new subjects have lately attracted increased attention: the magnetohydrodynamics (m.h.d.) and the theory of lasers. Equally important is the subject of electrohydrodynamics (e.h.d.). Now, clearly, all electromagnetic waves carry photons; it is the merit of Louis de Broglie to have had reconciled the validity of the Maxwell equations with existence of the latter. I have, recently, derived L. de Broglie's equations from the equations C. It seems natural to assume that the m.h.d. waves carry also photons, but how to reconcile the m.h.d axioms with the existence of photons ... a problem which has, so far, escaped the notice of physicists. In the lines which follows, an attempt is made to incorporate the photons in the m.h.d. waves, re e.h.d. waves in a rather simple fashion

AbstractAbstract
[en] A quasiperpendicular shock is considered as a structure, evolved from a fast magnetosonic nonlinear wave. Due to the steepening and tendency towards overturning the scales become smaller and the ramp is an intermediate whistler. The noncoplanar magnetic field component in the ramp appears in a quite natural way. The ramp is characterized by a large peak of the potential electric field, its width is much smaller than the ramp width. It is shown that in such a case electrons are heated efficiently. Ions are heated also, the heating process is closely related to the shock drift acceleration. (author). 8 refs.; 6 figs

AbstractAbstract
[en] It has been proposed that magnetic neutral sheets in the solar corona can attenuate magnetohydrodynamic shocks. Here, we consider two gamma-ray flares in which the particle data are consistent with this proposal. The coronal propagation path lengths for the two flares are similar, but the relative efficiencies with which particles accelerated at the flare site are ejected towards the Earth differ by several orders of magnitude. The flare with low efficiency is characterized by filaments lying between the flare and the base of the sun-earth field line. We propose that severe attenuation of the flare-induced shock has occurred in the neutral sheet overlying these filaments
