AbstractAbstract
[en] To determine the physical standards of the Reference Korean, research has been initiated in Korea within the framework of the IAEA Coordinated Research Programme ''Compilation of Anatomical, Physiological and Metabolic Characteristics for a Reference Asian Man''. The physical data of 21,406 Koreans, corresponding to 0.05% of the total Korean population, were compiled. All the data were divided into small groups according to age and sex. Data on the mass of internal organs from 1,921 Koreans (1,344 male and 577 female) were collected. All the data are given in a tabulated form. It was shown that the anatomical parameters of Reference Korean were, as usual, similar to those of Reference Japanese but different from those of ICRP Reference Man from Publication 23. However, the weights of several internal organs (liver, pancreas) were different from those of Japanese. 11 refs, 4 figs, 24 tabs

AbstractAbstract
[en] The extent to which man of modern times destroys nature has reached a breathtaking speed nowadays. The language of facts is clear. The author of the present study considers a radical change of the present conception of the world and the human being as the only salvation from a total catastrophe. 'Crisis of the environment' is, however, no technical but a religious and an intellectual problem. This open-minded and explosive book does just as little stop at false moving forces of Christianity with regard to its anthorpocentric philosophy as it stops at the modern type of man being atheistic in his basic nature. AbstractAbstract
[en] Radioimmunofixation of human ferritin following isoelectric focusing of serum was developed to study the microheterogeneity of this protein in native serum without previous purification or concentration. This method requires only 2-10 μl of serum and can be used with levels of ferritin as low as 10 μg/l. In this way, the extensive microheterogeneity of this protein was revealed, since in some cases it produced as many as 35 bands with isoelectric points in a pH range of 4.95-5.9. Very different isoelectric focusing patterns (spectrotypes) of ferritin were observed during the investigation of pathological sera. The high sensitivity of this technique makes it useful for the investigation of serum ferritin in diseases involving modifications of the metabolism of this protein. (orig.)
