AbstractAbstract
[en] The epoch-making discovery of nuclear fission in 1939 by Otto Hahn and Fritz Strassmann heralded the onset of a new era in the history of human civilization. Soon after the discovery of neutron in 1932 by Chadwick, Fermi recognized that due to the absence of Coulomb barrier, neutron was the ideal projectile to induce successive transformations in all nuclei up to uranium. Thus, Fermi and coworkers started experiments with the goal of extending the periodic table by bombarding thorium and uranium with neutrons with the expectation that the neutron capture in the uranium nucleus followed by beta decay will lead to the formation of an element of the next higher atomic number, thus producing a transuranic element. But the observed decay curves of the induced radioactivity did not conform to such a simple picture and intense research activities of those years in Europe in trying to resolve the transuranic puzzle ultimately led to the discovery of nuclear fission

[en] The possibility of use of reactions induced by 14N such as 14N+12C→d+12C+12C for study of quasimolecular states is investigated. The results indicate that such investigations are promising

AbstractAbstract
[en] A Monte Carlo evaluation of discrete electronic stopping powers is presented. The method is based on the binary encounter approximation and considers projectile stopping which results from the cumulative loss of energy during successive, independent, binary, Coulomb collisions. For each collision with a target electron, both the binding energy and the velocity distribution of the electron are taken into account. Because discrete electronic energy losses are evaluated, the approach is ideally suited for incorporation into existing Monte Carlo codes such as TRIM and MARLOWE. Detailed calculations are presented for nitrogen along with a comparison with experimental data

AbstractAbstract
[en] In recent years, incomplete fusion reactions (ICF) were extensively studied in light and heavy-ion (L/HI) induced reactions at low energies around the Coulomb barrier, where complete fusion (CF) expected to be dominant reaction mode. In the present study, fusion l distribution window for the system 14N + 169Tm is interpreted with the Sum-Rule model at three different energies. Sum-Rule model is based on the idea of the generalized concept of critical angular momentum and partial statistical equilibrium
