AbstractAbstract
[en] The energy density method has been used to investigate systematically the variations of the nuclear r.m.s. proton and neutron radii with respect to Z and N for spherical nuclei distributed throughout the nuclidic peninsula up to the limits of stability against nucleon emission. (orig./AH)

[en] An elastic electron scattering experiment on 58Ni was carried out at very high momentum transfer in order to determine the fine structure of the nuclear charge density rho(r) with small error bars by an independent model data analysis. Preliminary results obtained from a phenomenological analysis show a weak structure in reasonably agreement with Hartree-Fock calculation

AbstractAbstract
[en] The Ehrenfest theorem and the explicit form of basic quantum operators defined in the Fock-Bargmann space are used to derive classical equations for the dynamics of the breathing mode of magic nuclei. Solutions to these equations are discussed for finite trajectories that satisfy the Bohr-Sommerfeld conditions. 11 refs., 1 tab

AbstractAbstract
[en] A least-squares method for the combined analysis of two types of experimental data on nuclear charge radii has been developed. The data types are (1) radii measured from electron scattering and muonic atomic spectra and (2) radii changes determined from optical isotope shifts. The nuclear charge radii systematics thus derived exhibit the following essential features: (i) the independently measured radii for the individual isotopes of an element are additionally constrained by the high accuracy of the extended isotopic chain of radii change values, (ii) unknown nuclear radii values are predicted for many isotopes of that element, and (iii) the accuracy of the fitted nuclear radii values is higher than that of the original independently measured values. The table presents a new set of nuclear radii systematics for 42 elements from 11Na to 95Am. These are elements for which there exist both types of experimental data. The range of isotopic numbers covered is determined by the range of the second type of data available. 56 refs., 2 figs., 2 tabs

AbstractAbstract
[en] It is shown that without exception the observed rms charge radius constants of strong deformed nuclei, r/sup prime//sub p/s, are a little larger than those of the neighboring spherical nuclei. The local variation among the charge radii of the sequence of isotopes, the incomplete neutron shells [1p3/sub //2(Napprox.3--6), 1d5/sub //2, (Napprox.9--14), 1f7/sub //2(Napprox.20--28), 1g9/sub //2(Napprox.40--50), 1h11/sub //2, (Napprox.70--82)], display some peculiar behaviors (e.g., rms change radii decrease with increasing A) which are sharply conflicting with the traditional A1/sup //3 law. Taking the deformation effect into account, these strange variations can be accounted for with the Z1/sup //3 law

AbstractAbstract
[en] An improved Z1/3 law of nuclear charge radius is presented. The comparison between the calculated and experimental nuclear charge radii now available shows that this new formula is better than the other conventional formulae.
