AbstractAbstract
[en] A first attempt is made to examine the process of vacuum production of massive neutrino pairs by a variable electromagnetic field, F→νi bar νj, allowing for mixing effects. The derived general relations are illustrated by a calculation of the probability of neutrino synchrotron radiation produced by classical charges and in collisions of Coulomb centers. The cases of Dirac and Majorana neutrinos are discussed. Fundamentally new ideas about estimating the upper limit of the neutrino mass are suggested. 15 refs

AbstractAbstract
[en] We present in this paper the current status of searches for leptoquarks at D0. These results include the use of next leading order theoretical predictions for the cross section for pair production of leptoquarks at hadron colliders. We also present a new optimized analysis for first generation leptoquarks with significant increase in sensitivity relative to earlier searches using DO data. The mass limits derived from this first generation leptoquark search are relevant to the recently reported high mass events at HERA

AbstractAbstract
[en] The D0 and CDF Collaborations measure boson pair production including Wγ, WW, WZ, ZZ and Zγ production in p anti p collisions at √s = 1800 GeV. New results, from direct measurements, are described including Wγ, WW, and Zγ production cross sections and limits on non-Standard Model triple gauge boson couplings. The limits on anomalous WWγ, WWZ, Zγγ and ZZγ couplings are the most restrictive available. Prospects for Run II are discussed

AbstractAbstract
[en] We here consider inverse photon-photon processes, i.e. AB → γγX (where A, B are hadrons, in particular protons or antiprotons), at high energies. As regards the production of a γγ continuum, we show that, under specific conditions the study of such processes might provide some information on the subprocess gg <--> γγ, involving a quark box. It is also suggested to use those processes in order to systematically look for heavy C = + structures (quarkonium states, gluonia, etc.) showing up in the γγ channel. Inverse photon-photon processes might thus become a new and fertile area of investigation in high-energy physics, provided the difficult problem of discriminating between direct photons and indirect ones can be handled in a satisfactory way

AbstractAbstract
[en] The GLAST Balloon Flight Engineering Model (BFEM) represents one of 16 towers that constitute the Large Area Telescope (LAT), a high-energy (>20 MeV) gamma-ray pair-production telescope being built by an international partnership of astrophysicists and particle physicists for a satellite launch in 2006. The prototype tower consists of a Pb/Si pair-conversion tracker (TKR), a CsI hodoscopic calorimeter (CAL), an anti-coincidence detector (ACD) and an autonomous data acquisition system (DAQ). The self-triggering capabilities and performance of the detector elements have been previously characterized using positron, photon and hadron beams. External target scintillators were placed above the instrument to act as sources of hadronic showers. This paper provides a comprehensive description of the BFEM data-reduction process, from receipt of the flight data from telemetry through event reconstruction and background rejection cuts. The goals of the ground analysis presented here are to verify the functioning of the instrument and to validate the reconstruction software and the background-rejection scheme
