AbstractAbstract
[en] The shape of the bremsstrahlung spectrum from the Lund 1 GeV electron synchrotron has been investigated using a conventional pair spectrometer. The aim has been to find a description of the spectrum, especially at the high energy end, under normal running conditions. (Auth.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] E605 is a wide-aperture high-resolution pair spectrometer designed to study hadron structure and search for two-body resonances. We are attempting to run at high luminosity with an open aperture so that we can detect muons, electrons and hadrons simultaneously, with fine resolution. We have achieved complete particle identification at high Psub(T) but have found difficulty in reaching our desired luminosity. Dedication of some of our running to dimuons (with a blocked aperture) may be necessary in order to reach our luminosity goal

AbstractAbstract
[en] A large acceptance, medium energy resolution, cylindrical drift chamber has been constructed for use as a pair spectrometer for the detection of 50 to 100 MeV photons from radiative muon capture. Energy resolution for the detection of 129 MeV photons was found to be 12% (FWHM) at a magnetic field of 2.4 kG and 5.5% at 7.1 kG with the resolution improving as the photon energy decreases. The worst case position resolution for particle tracks is 150 microns (σ). The acceptance for the detection of photons over the range 55-83 MeV was found to be 0.66% at 2.4 kG. All of these properties are reproduced by a Monte Carlo simulation of the spectrometer. Triggering schemes and further chamber characteristics will also be discussed. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] This paper describes a proposed experiment to detect high energy photons from radiative muon capture on helium-3 using a large acceptance pair spectrometer. The target will consist of 2 liters of liquid helium-3. The negative muons from TRIUMF channel M9 will be stopped in the target. The few muons that undergo radiative capture will produce a photon spectrum which is the sum of the individual spectra from the reactions

AbstractAbstract
[en] In this report, we present the energy calibration of the Hall B bremsstrahlung tagging system at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility. The calibration was performed using a magnetic pair spectrometer. The tagged photon energy spectrum was measured in coincidence with e+e- pairs as a function of the pair spectrometer magnetic field. Taking advantage of the internal linearity of the pair spectrometer, the energy of the tagging system was calibrated at the level of ± 0.1% Eγ. The absolute energy scale was determined using the e+e- rate measurements close to the end-point of the photon spectrum. The energy variations across the full tagging range were found to be <3 MeV
