AbstractAbstract
[en] Experimental details are given of the re-determination of the half-lives of 109Pd and 112Pd. The weighted mean half-life for 109Pd is 13.427 +- 0.014 hours. The half-life for 112Pd is 21.045 -0.065 +0.029 hours. The value for 109Pd agrees well with the value of 13.46 +- 0.02 hours adopted in Nuclear Data Sheets, but the value for 112Pd does not agree well with the value of 20.12 +-0.06 hours adopted in Nuclear Data Sheets. AbstractAbstract
[en] High spin sates have been established using γγ, x - x, x - γ, and γ γ γ coincidence techniques following the spontaneous fission of 252Cf. Data from a series of three different experiments conducted viz., with the early implementation of gammasphere at LBL, with the Compton-suppressed Ge-array at ORNL and x-γ setup of INEL, was used to establish the high spin structures. In 112Pd yrast levels with energies of 349, 883, 1550, 2318, 3050, 3598 and 4205 keV connected by E2 transitions have been identified. In 114Pd yrast levels with energies of 333, 852, 1500, 2216, 2860, 3443, 4147 and 5011 and in 116Pd levels with energies of 341, 878, 1560, 2344, 3092, 3684, 4395 and 5244 decaying through a cascade of E2 transitions have been established. Also γ-bands with energies of 737, 1096, 1362, 1759, 2002, 2483 and 2691 keV in 114Pd; 695, 1012, 1320, 1631, 1984, 2290, 2655, 2906, 3338 and 3504 keV in 114Pd; and 7838, 1067, 1374, 1719, 2101, 2493, 2931, 3256, and 3807 keV have been identified. In addition two negative parity bands with enerigies of 2183(5-), 2599(7-), 3105(9-), 3738(11-), 4473(13-) and 5256(15-) keV in 114Pd and 1984(5-), 2437(7-), 2972(9-), 3632(11-), and 4417(13-) keV have been established. The systematics of the yrast bands in these nuclei will be discussed

AbstractAbstract
[en] Studies of even-even nuclei in the A ∼ 100 transitional mass region within the framework of the interacting boson model-1 (IBM-1) have been expanded down to "9"8Pd nuclei to compare the calculation with new experimental results from measurements obtained at the Institute of Nuclear Physics in Cologne. The low-lying energy levels and the E2 transition rates of "9"8"-"1"0"0Pd nuclei are investigated and their geometric structures are described in the present work. We have also focused on the new B(E2:2_1"+ → 0_1"+) values of "1"1"2","1"1"4Pd nuclei to compare with previously calculated values. It is shown that the new results for the B(E2:2_1"+ → 0_1"+) values of "1"1"2","1"1"4Pd nuclei are more closer to the calculated ones than the earlier experimental data

AbstractAbstract
[en] The radiochemical method is for the first time used to measure the cumulative fission yield of 114Pd in 252Cf spontaneous fission. A value of (2.50 +- 0.11)% is obtained. In order to solve the discrepancy on the existence of fine structure in the mass distribution of 252Cf spontaneous fission, the cumulative yields of 112Pd and 113Agg are also measured. All these results and other available data are re-corrected and evaluated using the latest nuclear data. It is shown that there exists a fine structure peak on the mass distribution curve at A = 113

[en] Transitions among high-spin states in 112,114,116Pd are observed through prompt γ-ray spectroscopy following the spontaneous fission of 252Cf. Spins and parities are assigned to many newly observed levels based on angular correlation analysis and comparison with known spins and parities of less neutron-rich Pd nuclides. The γ-band structures are significantly extended. New rotational band structures are observed for the first time, and tentatively assigned negative parity. IBA-1 model calculations are performed for the ground state and γ-bands. (author)
