AbstractAbstract
[en] The papers presented at the Conference are briefly reviewed under the subject headings of: zero power reactor noise; low power reactors and rig experiments; power reactors; and discussion. It is concluded that zero power reactor noise is generally well understood and has useful applications in research reactors, power reactor start-up, and fuel storage problems. In the detection and diagnosis of reactor malfunctions, noise analysis has been useful in certain cases and could be a valuable tool if further developed. Some power reactor parameters have been successfully determined using inherent noise. The technique requires much theoretical and experimental work to prove useful over a wide range of applications, but cost advantages make it attractive. (U.K.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The temporal evolution of the distribution of the number of neutrons in a time-varying multiplying system, producing only prompt neutrons, was treated recently with the master equation technique by some of the present authors. Such a treatment gives account of both the so-called zero power reactor noise and the power reactor noise simultaneously. In particular, the first two moments of the neutron number, as well as the concept of criticality for time-varying systems, were investigated and discussed. The present paper extends these investigations to the case when delayed neutrons are also taken into account. Due to the complexity of the description, only the expectation of the neutron number is calculated. The concept of criticality of a time-varying system is also generalized to systems with delayed neutrons. The temporal behaviour of the expectation of the number of neutrons and its asymptotic properties are displayed and discussed

AbstractAbstract
[en] Experimental programs led in zero power reactors are mainly devoted to neutron lattice and core code validation. As a consequence, and in order to be relevant of neutron behavior in power reactors, the experiments must be representative for the neutron properties. Zero power reactors have the advantage of enabling the measurement of quantities that are inaccessible in power reactors. The study is made on a limited experimental database to analyze the transposition of C/E (calculation-to-experiment) results and associated uncertainties from different experimental programs (Pre-Racine, ZPPR or criticality experiment) to the CFV SFR Gen-IV concept currently being developed by CEA. Finally we present a rigorous method to combine technological and measurements uncertainties linked to the experimental techniques to generate covariance matrices between integral quantities. AbstractAbstract
[en] Nuclear Reactors Built, Being Built, or Planned contains unclassified information about facilities built, being built, or planned in the United States for domestic use or export as of June 30, 1981, which are capable of sustaining a nuclear chain reaction. Information is presented in five parts, each of which is categorized by primary function or pupose: civilian, military, production, export, and critical assembly facilities
