AbstractAbstract
[en] The modification of the title plant has been finished successfully. For 467 million Dutch guilders radical adjustments were carried out by means of which the plant now is 10 times safer than before. Still, some consider it to be a waste of money while six years from now the Borssele reactor will be closed. The adjustments are illustrated by color photo's

[en] The modernization of the VVER-440/230s is not fundamentally different from backfit projects on older pressurized water reactors which Westinghouse has completed elsewhere. However, carrying out such programmes only makes sense if the plants are expected to continue operation for their projected life or beyond. This clearly requires some licensing and political stability; both are essential if investors in the upgrading project are to be found. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Block 1 of this plant was taken into full operation on 18. February 1980 by the Kernkraftwerk Philippsburg GmbH after approximately 9 months of nuclear function testing and 8 weeks of trial operation. However, on 20. May 1980 the plant was shut down for around 14 months for refitting work. These refitting measures were essential to comply with the legislation of the authorities. Despite considerable difficulties the scheduled refitting period was exceeded by only two weeks. (orig.)

(orig.)Original Title

AbstractAbstract
[en] A description of the process for producing defense nuclear materials at SRP is required for the Environmental Impact Statement on the restart of L Reactor. This memorandum briefly presents the facilities and generally reviews the processes directly associated with the production of plutonium and tritium. L Reactor has been on standby since 1968 and is currently undergoing renovation for a scheduled restart in October 1983. The reactor operated from 1954 to 1968 when decreasing demand for defense nuclear materials caused it to be placed in standby status. The operation of L Reactor is required to help attain the established levels of defense nuclear materials. Upon restart, L Reactor will operate in the same manner as the reactors currently in use and similar to the methods used previously

AbstractAbstract
[en] Following 18-y operation for postirradiation examinations, the Studsvik Hot Cell Laboratory's cell line and adjacent restricted areas were emptied, decontaminated, and refurbished in two consecutive shutdown periods starting in 1977. Improvements consist of new transfer equipment and routines, new cell fixtures, in-cell equipment, loading carriages, and a building extension comprised of a shielded workshop, a shielded equipment transient store, a hall over the reception yard, and auxiliary maintenance workshops
