AbstractAbstract
[en] Orbital interaction analysis is employed to understand the complex charge transfer mechanism operative in endohedral metallofullerenes of composition NSc3-C n (n = 68, 78). This phenomenon combines substantial electron transfer from the core to the cage with electron backdonation, involving the interaction between the occupied orbitals of the negatively charged cage and the unoccupied d orbitals of the positively charged core. This electron backdonation differs fundamentally from conventional orbital hybridization, which takes place primarily between the HOMO of the metal core and the LUMO of the fullerene cage. These findings imply the pronounced stability of NSc3-C n (n = 68, 78), especially for NSc3 encapsulated in the non-IPR C68 enclosure, as experimentally established

AbstractAbstract
[en] Mesityl oxide, i.e., 4-methyl-3-pentene-2-one [(CH3)2C = CHCOCH3] was used for the solvent extraction separation of scandium from 0.1 M hydrochloric acid containing 1.5 M ammonium thiocyanate. Scandium from the organic phase was stripped with 0.2 M hydrochloric acid and was determined photometrically as its alizarin red S complex at 520 nm. It was possible to separate scandium from a large number of elements such as yttrium, lanthanum, thorium, uranium, lead, etc. with which it is associated in minerals

AbstractAbstract
[en] A new system using a polarographic adsorptive wave for determining trace scandium was proposed. In 0.2 mol/L NH4OAc, the Sc(III)-ACBK [1,8-dihydroxy-2-(2-hydroxy-5-sulfo-1-phenylazo)-3,6-disulfo-naphthalene, called acid chrome blue K] complex emerged a sensitive adsorptive complex wave (Ep' = -0.67V). The molar ratio of Sc(III) to ACBK in the complex was established as 1:2 and the apparent stability constant β2 = 2.7 x 1015. But for Y(III), the molar ratio was 1:1 and β=1.5 x 105. Because of the particularity of Sc complex, the sensitivity and the selectivity of determination Sc is much better than that of other rare earth ions. The detection limits is 1.1 x 10-7 mol/L for oscillopolarography and 2.0 x 10-8 mol/L for adsorptive stripping voltammetry

AbstractAbstract
[en] Extraction of acid and interphase distribution of 1-alkyl-3-methyl-2-pyrazoline-5-ones in the system water-chloroform-perchloric acid are studied. Reagents capable to extract scandium cations from subacid solutions in the presence of perchlorate ions. 1-Alkyl-3-methyl-2-pyrazoline-5-ones stratifies aqueous solutions of perchloric acid into two liquid phase. Scandium ions are concentrated in the lower phase having small volume

AbstractAbstract
[en] Relations between step unstgbility constants of complex compounds: pKsub(n)=αsub(n)pKswb(1)+βsub(n) and pKsub(n+1)-pKsub(n)=α'sub(n)pKsub(1)β'sub(n) were obtained on the basis of chemical thermodynamics extended on the reactions of complex particles interaction in the electrolytic solutions. The validity of correlations was supported by experimental data on step unstability constants values for 88 metal-ligand systems taken from the reference literature. The possibility of calculating αsub(n), αsub(n), βsub(n) i βsub(n) parameters was demonstrated
