AbstractAbstract
[en] The previously analyzed energy range for thulium capture resonance parameters is extended from 1 keV to 2 keV. In addition, point and group averaged thulium cross section curves are extended to above 2 keV and 181Ta impurity levels are discussed. (SDF)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Local dose enhancement caused by neutron capture in tantalum devices has been predicted but not previously measured. An experiment is reported in which the dose due to conversion electrons and sub-MeV photons resulting from neutron capture in Ta is compared to the dose from high-energy photons. For measurements on a thin Ta foil using a silicon surface barrier detector and incident neutrons in the resonance region (thermal to 500 eV), the dose enhancement ratio (dose due to all secondary radiations/dose due to super-MeV photons) was found to be 4.7 +- 0.3. 1 table, 5 figures

AbstractAbstract
[en] Results of high resolution neutron time of flight spectroscopy on natural tantalum (99.988% 181Ta, I/sup π/+) are presented for l = 0 resonances to 2025 eV. Values of E and gGAMMA0/sub n/ are presented for 431 resonances, in addition to the three resonances below 15 eV. A Bayes analysis suggests that no p wave levels have been included. The analysis used a multilevel Breit-Wigner shape fitting to the measured transmission curves for three different sample thicknesses. Doppler broadening and potential-resonance interference effects were included, plus some simulation of the experimental resolution effects. The analysis gives < S> = (4.17 +- 0.04) eV for the mean level spacing, and 104S0 = (1.68 +- 0.11) for the l = 0 strength function

AbstractAbstract
[en] New evaluated data file for Ta irradiated with neutrons at energies up to 200 MeV has been prepared. The data evaluation has been done using the results of calculations, measured data, systematics predictions, and covariance information. Calculations have been performed using a special version of the TALYS code implementing the geometry dependent hybrid model and models for the non-equilibrium light cluster emission. The TEFAL code and the FOX code from the BEKED package have been used for the formatting of the data.

AbstractAbstract
[en] In this report the authors present the first experimental results from measurements of films obtained using the 2-m liquid-hydrogen bubble chamber open-quotes Ludmilaclose quotes of the High Energy Laboratory of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research. The chamber was exposed in a beam of antideuterons with momentum 12.2 GeV/c. The hadronic background in the beam was about 40 ± 10% and was mainly due to π- mesons. A tantalum 3-mm thick plate was placed inside the working volume of the chamber. As the interaction, the authors considered an event with the multiplicity of secondary charged particles nch ≥ 2. 5 refs., 3 figs., 1 tab

AbstractAbstract
[en] The aim of the reported research is to contribute to investigation of new processes and methods interlinking nuclear and laser-plasma physics. With respect to requirements of nuclear experiments at medium-size high-power lasers, the selection of proper candidates for studying the excitation and decay of low-lying nuclear states is reviewed. An experimental approach to the identification of low-energy nuclear transitions is discussed, simple estimates of the 181Ta excitation yield in the laser-generated plasma provide a theoretical basis for planning future work. First tests and results of the experiments at the laser facility PALS are presented. (author)
