AbstractAbstract
[en] During the last few decades it has become clear that the giant dipole resonance (GDR), built on excited states, is a very good experimental tool to study the nuclear properties at extreme conditions. However, the GDR width which gives the damping information of the nuclear medium, is not yet fully understood at low temperature for the entire mass regions and remains a puzzling topic

AbstractAbstract
[en] The study of giant dipole resonance (GDR) is a powerful tool to investigate the basic nuclear structure properties and many-body interactions at high temperature (T) and angular momentum. The GDR width (Γ) which is an observable quantity, gives the information about the shape and damping mechanism in nuclei. Here we show that with the proper inclusion of pairing correlations in TSFM, we are able to explain the low-T GDR measurements in 97Tc

AbstractAbstract
[en] Lifetimes of the positive parity states in the yrast band as well as of several yrare states of 97Tc have been determined by recoil- distance measurements of the reaction 82Se + 19F. A comparison is made with predictions of IBFA model calculations and a discussion of the possible configurations of the investigated states is undertaken.(authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Experimental results are provided for the sample analyses for technetium in charcoal samples placed in-line with a Savannah River Site (SRS) processing stack effluent stream as a part of an environmental surveillance program. The method for Tc removal from charcoal was based on that originally developed with high purity charcoal. Presented is the process that allowed for the quantitative analysis of 99Tc in SRS charcoal stack samples with and without 97Tc as a tracer. The results obtained with the method using the 97Tc tracer quantitatively confirm the results obtained with no tracer added. All samples contain 99Tc at the pg x g-1 level. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A radiochemical method has been developed for determination of 99Tc by which both the chemical yield and the yield-corrected amount of 99Tc in a sample may be determined. The chemical yield estimation is based upon counting of low energy internal-conversion electrons from the added isotopic tracer 97Tc. Uncertainties in the 99Tc and yield estimates depend on the amount of 97Tc tracer used, the amount of 99Tc in the sample, the fraction of time spent in counting with an added absorber, and the total counting period. For a 2000 min total counting period with 50% of it spent in counting with added absorber, with 20 counts/min. of 97Tc tracer added originally to the sample, and with 50% chemical yield the chemical yield uncertainty (relative standard deviation) is 2.3% and the detection limit is approximately 44mBQ of 99Tc
