AbstractAbstract
[en] Based on the analysis of the results of measurement of excitation spectra of steady luminescence and phosphorescence of LaOBr-Tb and LaOCl-Tb-phosphors it has been established that the forbidden zone widths of LaOBr and LaOCl are 5.8 and 6.0 eV, respectively. Excitation of the recombination afterglow and thermoluminescence of LaOBr-Tb by quanta with the energy of 3.4-3.5 eV which is especially vividly manifested in compounds obtained with NH4Br as a flux, is due to the stepwise two-quantum process of terbium excitation and ionization possible owing to the long lifetime of the transient excited state

AbstractAbstract
[en] A study of the interaction of Tb(III) with dextran in aqueous solution was perform using fluorescence spectroscopy and optical rotatory dispersion. The results indicate the formation of a complex with the displacent of water from the cation coordinated sphere by hydroxyl groups at the second and third carbon atoms of the monomer unit. (Author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The application at medium and low energies of lead tungstate scintillators, so far optimized for the ECAL calorimeter of CMS for the future LHC, is strongly limited by their poor light yield. Suitable dopants like molybdenum and terbium can help to overcome this problem. Concepts, results, advantages and drawbacks of this approach are discussed

AbstractAbstract
[en] An ordering of atoms in a cation sublattice of a (123)-type crystal doped by Tb has been observed by means of detailed single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies. On the basis of structural and chemical composition data analysis for a series of single crystals the cation ordering is predicted to be a general feature of (123)-type crystals. Two main factors responsible for superstructural lattice formation have been revealed. The first one is related to the presence of cations of different radii in Y sites. As a result, the large cation gains a particular position instead of a random distribution. The second factor is connected with the presence of atoms in the Cu(1) site which are able to ensure the octahedral oxygen coordination and hence to cause the crossing of Cu-O chains and the formation of closed loops in the basal plane. AbstractAbstract
[en] The influence of 0.3%Dy and 0.3%Tb additions were investigated on grain size in aluminium ingots and on recrystallization and mechanical properties in 1.5 mm thick sheets. Grain refinement in ingots was revealed along with an increase of sheet recrystallization temperature and grain growth retardation in the process of secondary recrystallization. Ultimate strength was found to rise at some decrease of specific elongation
