AbstractAbstract
[en] This dictionary is a compilation of German and English technical terms of power plant engineering as far as power plants, turbine-generators and assembly engineering are concerned. It is the result of a joint effort by the Kraftwerk Union AG (KWU) and Utility Power Corp. (UPC). The entire content has been revised and approx. 6000 new terms have been added. The dictionary is meant to form a basis for uniform terminology on technical documents as well as correspondence between KWU, UPC and licensees. This computer aided dictionary is printed in capital/low case letters. Only nouns, terms with an article and proper names are capitalized in German. Some terms are written differently in American and British English and are marked with (US) or (GB). (orig./HP)

(orig./HP)Original Title

Divestiture of TEPCO for reparation for the Fukushima nuclear accident–A path to vertical unbundling
Hosoe, Nobuhiro; Tanaka, Makoto, E-mail: nhosoe@grips.ac.jp2012
AbstractAbstract
[en] The Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station held by Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) had a serious nuclear accident in March 2011. TEPCO's liability for the losses caused by this accident is speculated to reach several trillion yen. For this compensation, TEPCO is supposed to sell its assets, including those for its power business. Their sales are crucial for its solvency. We estimate the fundamental values of TEPCO's thermal plants by modeling their plant operation patterns based on spot market prices and fuel costs. Then, we discuss the implication of their divestiture for TEPCO's reparations in the context of the regulatory reforms as a radical path to unbundling, which has not yet been achieved due to the strong resistance from the incumbents.

Maryland Power Plant Research Program, Annapolis, MD (United States)1994
AbstractAbstract
[en] The Power Plant Siting Act of 1971 established the Power Plant Research Program to insure that demands for electric power would be met in a timely manner at a reasonable cost while assuring that the associated environmental impact would be acceptable. The scope of the Program extends to estimating the impact of proposed new generating facilities, evaluating the acceptability of proposed tranmission line routes, assessing the impact of existing generation facilities, and investigating generic issues related to power plant site evaluation and associated environmental and land use considerations. The bibliography is a compilation of all the studies performed for and or by the Power Plant and Environmental Review Division since its inception
