[en] Compared with the top-down lithographic techniques, bottom-up chemical synthesis and self-assembly approaches offer much more flexibilities in creating magnetic nanostructures with controlled size, shape, composition and physical properties. This review summarizes some of the latest developments in this field, with emphasis mainly on transition metals, their alloys and metal oxide nanoparticles. The focus is directed towards the conditions of individual particles as well as large assemblies of particles through colloidal chemistry. Furthermore, some of the future directions in nanomagnetism from the perspective of physical chemists is also presented

[en] The monograph provides a systematic description of experimental investigations into the physical properties of superconducting transition metals and of their compounds on the basis of the strong-coupling superconductivity theory. The theory of superconductors with strong electron-phonon coupling is developed and the role played by the various factors determining the transition temperature Tsub(c) is analyzed. The condition for superconductivity to occur in pure transition metal compounds with high Tsub(c) of both the intermetallic and the covalent-ionic type is studied. Various models to describe the electronic properties of such superconducting compounds are introduced and critically assessed. Consideration is given to the interplay of superconductivity and magnetism. (orig.)

[en] The published data on the synthesis of organomagnesium compounds assisted by metal complex catalysts are generalised and described systematically for the first time. Hydro-, carbo- and cyclomagnesiation reactions of unsaturated compounds with R1MgR2 (R1 = Alk, Ar; R2 = H, Hal; R1 = R2 = Alk) catalysed by Ti, Zr and other transition metal salts and complexes are considered. Selected examples of applications of organomagnesium reagents to organic synthesis are given.
