AbstractAbstract
[en] RADMIL is the radiation and radioactivity monitoring organisation established by the 14 District Councils of Lancashire and the County Council. Annual reports on RADMIL monitoring of the Lancashire environment are produced and this is the second in a series of separate reports on one aspect of monitoring, i.e. 'Radon in homes'. Radon measurements in 283 homes showed an overall mean radon level of 20 Becquerels per cubic metre and few homes above RADMIL's current further investigation level of 75 Becquerels per cubic metre. On the basis of current information, RADMIL does not expect Lancashire to be designated on 'affected area''. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The Nuclear Industry Association - NIA is the professional organisation of the British nuclear industry, it is the counterpart of the French Society of Nuclear Energy - SFEN. NIA represents 260 enterprises among which the operators of the 43 commissioned or decommissioned nuclear reactors on UK soil. In UK nuclear industry employs 64.000 people. Despite the recent Brexit an agreement has been signed between NIA and SFEN, this agreement reinforces the cooperation between both countries in the nuclear sector: - the enterprises of the nuclear sector will be helped to find business opportunities in both countries, and - the share of knowledge between nuclear-issue experts of both countries will be encouraged. AbstractAbstract
[en] A brief historical outline is given of the British Institute of Radiology (BIR) and its forebears, starting in 1897 with the Rontgen Society. Brief mention is made of the careers and achievements of some of the 75 radiologists who have served as President since that date. The organisation and functions of the BIR, both in the UK and further afield, are discussed, together with interactions between the multidisciplinary BIR, other professional bodies and the Government. The relationship with the Royal College of Radiologists is of particular interest. (U.K.)
