AbstractAbstract
[en] The aim of this study was to determine the thermomechanical story which occur in a metallic uranium sample, whose characterization was unknown. For this purpose a metallographic study was done as well as chemical analysis, hardness measurements, density, gamma spectrometry and S.E.M. The results of the study showed that the sample was (most) probably hot extruded in the a phase followed by a high temperature annealing in the a phase obtaining a fine microstructure of equiaxed grains (20-35 μm). Also some melting defects were found, showing that this material cannot be used as a nuclear fuel. (Author)
