AbstractAbstract
[en] It is found that the luminescence output of BaFCl-Sm2+-phosphor exceeds considerably BaF2-Sm2+- and BaCl2-Sm2+-phosphors when excited by the X-ray and VUV radiation. The addition of BaF2 excess to BaFCl-Sm2+ results in the decrease of the X-ray luminescence intensity, increase of afterglow and the arise of the high-temperature peak (80-100 deg C) of thermoluminescence; these phenomena are expressed more distinctly in the comparison with BaF2-BaCl2-Eu2+-phosphors. The sensitivity of Sm2+-doped phosphors to oxidation-reduction properties of atmosphere is also higher. Specific features revealed at a range from 4 to 30 eV in excitation spectra are explained by the formation of edge Γ-excitons, core excitons and plasmons
