AbstractAbstract
[en] This paper reports a study of seven newborns with suspected congenital heart disease (CHD) before and after surgery with ECG-gated and spin-echo 0.5-T MR imaging and with two-dimensional Doppler echocardiography (2DDE). Four patients had transposition of the great vessel. Three patients had pulmonary atresia with ventricular septum defect (VSD). MR imaging provided satisfactory diagnostic quality in all seven patients and furnished precise information complementary to data from 2DDE: before surgery, diagnosis of two distal VSDs; after surgery, assessment of patency of small vascular structures (palliative shunts and insertion of coronary arteries) and complete morphologic and functional depiction of two Senning corrections
