AbstractAbstract
[en] This patent describes a critical heat test apparatus for testing fuel elements and other irradiated materials in situ within a hot cell, the hot cell having a remotely controlled positioning device. It comprises: an evacuated heating chamber, the chamber being adapted to hold a test specimen; an induction heater, disposed about the outer surface of the heating chamber for inducing EMF flux waves within the heating chamber; a specimen temperature sense apparatus, the specimen temperature sense apparatus being attachable to a specimen held within the heating chamber; an evacuation device, being coupled to the heating chamber at the base thereof; and a quench chamber
