AbstractAbstract
[en] Full text: A vacuum system to evacuate the 10 MeV RF electron linac assembly to ∼ 5 x10-8 mbar has been designed, fabricated. At present it is being tested at CDM, BARC. It consists of one 400 l/s capacity turbomolecular pumping unit, two 140 l/s and one 70 l/s capacity sputter ion pumps and gate valves. The entire RF accelerator assembly consists of electron gun, RF linac structure, RF power feed section, beam diagnostic chambers, scan horn, vacuum plumbing lines etc. These components have been fabricated and individually vacuum leak tested up to a ∼ 10-10 mbar-lit/sec. The total mock up assembly consisting of above sub-assemblies at CDM, BARC has been evacuated. A vacuum of the order of ∼ 3 x 10-5 mbar with the help of 400 lit/sec turbo molecular pumping unit has been achieved.
